Some changes on OAK defense (1 Viewer)

Tweets from the local guys, Vitto and Jerry Mac all over this right now.

Trevor Scott working exclusively at DE today, my guess is Shaugnessy sits.

Quentin Groves at 1st team WLB.

Those are the facts. Beyond that, I wonder if Groves will be any better in coverage than Scott was, and if this opens the door for Tommy Howard to emerge from the doghouse at some point.

Also, Stanford Routt is the starter opposite Asomougha. If you are in a CB-required league, he's a sexy pickup. He tackles well, not afraid of contact, and will get plenty of work across from Scrabble.

Have you guys read the notes attached on that link? One says Scott is primary WLB, while the other seems to say what Massraider is saying. If you had to guess does it sound like Scott rotates w the DE's ie. If one goes out a few plays, Groves plays while Scott move to the right side DE or is this down & distance thing? I like the Raiders D and schedule looks great, but Id like to know what there doin too...

The latest from Jerry MacDonald, the only Raider beat writer you need, is that Scott is back at DE full-time. And that news is from Scott himself. Groves was running with the 1's, but didn't come out and say he was starting. My only thought on the note that said he was the WLB is that it was an old note, and I mean more than 24 hours. This news broke yesterday. Thanks very much, KellysHeroes for the MFL update. That's a situation worth monitoring.RE: Groves being 3 down LB. Maybe, but it'd shock the hell out of me.

:bag: Thanks for all the info! One question... How far buried is Ricky Brown at this point? He was pushing Morrison for playing time last year, and seemed ok on the field. (Much better fantasy option than actual NFL option imo, but he didn't stink up the joint) They tagged Brown at a 1st round tender, and I haven't heard a word about the guy since. I know McClain is the current, and future, man in the middle, but with all the juggling of the LB's, there's been no mention of Brown. Any thoughts? Or is he just solid depth at all spots? It just seems weird that they tagged him that high, only to be beaten out by a rookie and two free agent acquisitions (Wimbley and Groves), and Groves sure as hell isn't your typical WLB.TIA

How sure is it that Shaughnessy is sitting? How entrenched is Lamarr Houston?
Not sure at all. The team like Shaugnessy, and he is stronger vs. the run that Scott. I think you are looking at a rotation at DT of Seymour/Kelly/Bryant/Henderson at DT, and maybe even some Houston in there, and a rotation of Shaugnessy/Houston/Scott/Wimbley at DE. My best guess is that when the Raiders try and stop the run it'll be Houston/Kelly/Seymour/Shaugnessy (with maybe Henderson in for Kelly at DT, and when they are getting after the QB, it'll be Scott/Kelly/Seymour/Wimbley. Houston is the starter at LE right now, but I think the only 3 down lock is Seymour. It's good for the Raiders to have this much depth, but a nightmare for fantasy owners.

from Rotoworld.com

The Raiders have promoted Quentin Groves into the starting lineup at weak-side linebacker, with Trevor Scott moving back to end.

Scott will be used as a situational rusher, operating with his hand in the dirt after posting seven sacks from the linebacker position last season. The move is a big surprise considering Scott's production at the position. Groves is bigger, but hasn't played the linebacker spot dating back to Auburn.

I guess we'll need to see how this plays out but would we assume that either Shaughnessy or Houston are now second string or will it be a situational thing as proposed earlier in this thread where Shaughny and Houston are 1st and 2nd down players but heading out in passing situations?

Shaughnessy's been pretty consistent with his fantasy production to this point in the season, I'm curious for those who watch Raiders games: roughly how many snaps is Shaughnessy getting in games?

As a rough estimate, I think he's gone from 40-50% to around 55-65% over the past two weeks.

This is what I saw from the game as well.

I know this isn't much to go on but I found this quote after this past game.

Trevor Scott was the best of the bunch for a second straight week. Scott is proving to be a better weak side linebacker than defensive end.
Still any news on Scott's long-term prognosis as an LB? Does he stay there for the season?

Where's that from? I cant find crap on this situation. Many thanks!
