Some of the fantasy podcasts are truly laughable (1 Viewer)

The Audible is far and away the best podcast out there. It's not even close. I do listen to a few others. I try to listen to the FFToolbox and it's okay, but good grief the guy that hosts it really doesn't have his stuff prepared. I don't know if he's nervous or he might have a stuttering problem, but it's sometimes just too dreadful to listen to. One that is an absolute joke though is Clark's Comments. That guy has no clue at all what he's talking about. He says Matt Schwab and Roady White all the time. At first I thought maybe it was schtick, but no that's not the case. He butchers other names, but those were the first two that came to mind. On his podcast the other day he argued with someone that Randy Moss was in the league last year. How does someone supposedly being a fantasy expert not know this glaring fact? He also thought Ben Tate was a RB in New Orleans. I listen to his just because it's an absolute train wreck.

Just curious what you all listen to besides the Audible. I like to listen to podcasts during work to pass the time.

This is a topic that comes up alot, but there really are only a few. Most of the members here hate the ESPN Podcast, but I find it pretty entertaining. Some of the other blog talk radio shows aren't terrible.

I try to listen to that fantasy channel every so often, but I always change the station.

I can't stand listening to fantasy nerds callinv in to brag about some make believe roster, dressed up as a wdis in a format I don't play.

That station is great starting now. All the football talk is in full swing. But every now and then some baseball geek will sneak in a question about a proposed 12-player swap.

I just now switched over there and I caught about 45 seconds of football before some nerd called in asking about a baseball trade somebody proposed, then they went to break.

Audible for the info I NEED TO know.

CBS and ESPN For entertainment and just more fantasy football facts. But these two are more about filling my addiction.

I have a hard time listening to most of the others. The production valus are so dang low. I feel like I'm listening to a crazy man rant on public access radio about government conspiracys.

My suggestion would be to stream sirius nfl

Yes you can. It's called Adam Schein. :hophead: :hophead: :hophead: :hophead: :hophead:
I listen to Fantasy Sports Radio and the NFL Channel in the car all the time. Schein when he's on with the "Fantasy Guru" John Hanson on Sunday mornings is unlistenable (SP?). Just keeps going "Guruuuuuuu!" after anything Hanson says, it is truly painful. The next time he disagrees within something this 'oracle' says will be the first. Hanson's not terrible, but Schein needs to get a little pride. I like listening to Fantasy Sports radio because some of the hosts bring up some good discussion points. But in the end, if you are looking for inside information, you are not getting it on this station. If you're looking for the next big WW addition, it's not coming here. If they are talking about it, you've missed your window for getting a player say off the WW cheap, kind of like Matthew Berry-esque player leans. Still entertaining and I still listen, but you're getting your league winning before the curve info from the subscription or the forum threads here, not from them.

Yes, yes, yes and yes. FF Toolbox is unbareable. I counted how many times they say um and ahh(chicago accent?) well, umm, it was a lot. I gave one of their podcasts another try this year but to no avail the umm's continue. I turned the podcast off after 5 minutes. The fantasy freakin' football podcast was kinda enjoyable. Its a girl and a guy. I enjoy cbs sports dave richards and the other guy but I can not stand Jamie Eisenberg. Hes a pompous ### to the other guys and very stubborn. I find a lot of his reasons behind certain views of players are incorrect. Basically, do the exact opposite of what he says and your fantasy season will be okay. I wish cbs would get rid of him. Greg Cossel has excellent podcasts. He also podcasts with the fantasy guru which I enjoy, but hes not exactly the greatest with words. Espn fantasy show is pretty good but not very in depth. Xmsirius radio does have good stuff playing all day. "Matt shwaub" I believe is a joke but if you are a football diehard and a podcaster mispronunciates a players name, all credibility goes out the door. Rich Eisen is good for football talk. He is basicallythe nfl network.Listening to callers or details of somebodys league is the absolute worst. I find its best to take little nuggets of information from each podcast and form your own rankings. Sometimes a random podcaster will share some inside info they have heard. I heard one of them mention they were in New Orleans and spoke to a team doctor, leaving out the name, and said firmly to Stay Away from Mark Ingram. Its also very important to understand how a podcaster expresses themselves. Be careful not to misinterpret what or how they comment. If you want to pass time sign up for a free month of siriusxm. There is a fantasy channel and nfl.

Completely agree, I like Dave Richard's analysis but cannot stand Jamey. It was great a couple weeks ago when he was on vacation. I have had to turn off the CBS podcast many times due to his elitist attitude. Audible is still far and away the best podcast.

Audible is soooo much better than anything else. Those guys are a 10/10, the next closest is like a 6. I've tried

All purpose roto. They're ok

Kellogs comments. I enjoy his contrarian view but I don't get a lot of info. I think it's pretty good though

Fantasy guru pod is good

Just downloaded 2 mugs but haven't listened yet

Just my 2 cents

I will third this notion. I gave up on these guys a few years ago. Jamey comes off as a complete jerk. For awhile, I thought it was a shtick. I just got fed up and quit listening. The advice was also laughably bad. One I would recommend, but definitely not over the Audible, is fantasy football weekly with Paul Charcian (sp?). Pretty good, but only runs during 1/2 the year.

I am a big fan of Sirius NFL but I mentally check out when they start talking fantasy. They are VERY good at the real life stuff and quite a few of them will overtly say "They don't wanna talk fantasy". But there really isn't a medium for fantay in their stuff. Every once in while,MJD will chat with them and he DOES know fantasy, but its not really the channel to be on for FF in the basic sense.

You can't go wrong with Sirius NFL Channel (although I could do without the player interviews). There is also a Fantasy NFL channel on Sirius that I've never tried, but 24-fantasy coverage at this time of year would be pretty cool.
The Fantasy channel isn't that bad, as long as you stay away from the dreadful morning show. Their decades old references (Beavis and Butthead impressions, Austin Powers, etc.) are embarrasing, and the "how you doin' boy" thing that they constantly do with anyone who calls from a southern state is one of the most annoying things I've ever heard on radio. Most of the other shows, especially during football season, are entertaining, even though they are typically geared to people who aren't quite as in tune with everything as most people on here are.The NFL Channel has it's moments as well, but my big problem with them is that they allow the callers to just ramble on and on, rather than cutting them off. If it's a show that features a number of call-ins, I typically get so annoyed with it, I turn the channel off.

But is the information good?I hear ya about the way some guys pronounce things and how it can tune you right out, but lots of guys do that. Heck, I think I quite listening to NBA tal when Magic Johnson and Charles Brakley first got on the air. It was turrible.

But sometimes you gotta fight through all that to get to the golden nugget. Cases in point: Gil Brandt and Jerry Rice on Sirius. Gil has more information than his head can possibly hold and he can smell a gem player a mile a way. But listening to him say "That's what it amounts to" 1000 times drives me insane.

Jerry Rice, I could listen to him all day when he is tlaking about whether he thinks a guy has the right mindset to succeed in the NFL but his verbal pauses and mis=pronouncing of people's names makes me grit my teeth.

The audible is far far above the rest of the ff podcasts in terms of content AND broadcast quality. The info and insight they provide has literally had directly led to me winning games. Can't beat that for free.

My biggest issues with the rest of the field are

1. They spend WAY too much time answering trade emails. Just like many of you have pointed out on this board before... NO ONE CARES about your team! Or what 4th round pick you got in return for your blah blah blah. It's worse than radio static. And

2. They don't really talk football. They talk plenty of fantasy concepts. Draft value, ff related stats, etc. but rarely any real football. I've been an avid listener of sig, Cecil and Waldman for 5 or 6 years now, and I'm loyal because of the football talk, not just the fantasy tips.

I listen to Berry too. His advice is worthless but he's entertaining as all get out.

"Is what it is"...He is tough, but I do enjoy the perspective from days of yore that he provides...plus, as you mentioned, he really has a knack for remembering where these guys played down to the name of the girl they first kissed. Is Rice still on Sirius? I have not heard him in years...

He has done some spot "guest" appearances off and on but he hasn't been a regular on there for a few seasons.

I personally like The Audible as well as Brad Evans podcast on Yahoo Sports Radio, at a very minimum, very entertaining!

Two good and relatively easy listens.

Little birdie told me a Rotoworld podcast is in the works.
Excellent. Have missed the hell out of your consistent input in the dynasty values thread you started oh so long ago. Hypothetically, would this podcast be re-draft or dynasty-centric?
The idea is to be all-encompassing, so both redraft and Dynasty. We'll probably have Josh Norris on quite a bit, too, to discuss NCAA/draft prospects.

This sounds officially awesome. Can't wait. Any soft target dates?

The information on fftoolbox is pretty good, but it gets drowned out for me with all of the stammering and ums. Just one of things that drives me crazy. And sorry, but Kellogg has too many mistakes for me to take him seriously.

Yes you can. It's called Adam Schein. :hophead: :hophead: :hophead: :hophead: :hophead:
:goodposting: Artie Lange ripped Schein to shreds during the "celebrity" fantasy draft ... hysterical if you heard it live but 90% of it was not safe for regular air so I bet they edited it out during the replays.
I'm sure they've said worse on playboy radio.think they're about to replay it right now.
