buddy of mine has been drinking Jack n' Coke (aka the LEMMY) since St. Swithun's day ... we had our first ever drinks together some 37 years ago - barely outta 7th grade - and that's what he opted for, and has hung with it ever since

went to visit him last month on his birthday, and bought some along as a gift ... he damn near vomited  :X  saying basically the same as you did in your post (tasting like #### lately)

he's now boozin'  with the clears (mostly vodka), and shoots Tequila

No Jameson. That #### poisons me. Probably tequila, but it's got to be something anejo, locally made in Mexico. Nothing made is the U.S. I can't remember the last time someone wanted to buy me a shot or drink of anything though. That must be nice. I usually hang out with a lot chicks, though, so that's probably the reason. I don't hang out with a lot of dudes, not that it's a bad thing or anything, that's just me, but chicks usually don't buy dudes drinks. Unless they are older women. Anyway, if anyone wants to "do shots" my go-to is to let whatever chick I'm with recommend something. All my chicks are good at drinking alcohol so they always come up with creative #### that usually doesn't suck.

I have and I 100% agree with you.  Way better.

Problem is, Fireball has such a marketing edge right now that down in the south, that's sort of the only option every bar has these days.

But you're absolutely right, I'd def take Tennessee Fire over Fireball any day

So odd to me seeing good bourbons/whiskeys suggested as shots. Love to drink them, not a fan of shooting them. 

Shot: Anejo or Reposado tequila with salt and lime (because I like it, not because I need it) 

If it’s daytime and the bar carries it, I’ll usually encourage a group “Breakfast Shot” which is:

1 shot Jameson w splash of Butterscotch Schnapps 

1 Shot organge juice 

1 strip of Bacon 

Shoot Jameson, shoot OJ, take bite of bacon tastes like pancakes w maple syrup, Orange juice and Bacon. Phenomenal really. 

But generally if I’m at a bar, which is decreasing in frequency dramatically.... I’m sipping beer (If watching a game), or a neat Bourbon (If just out socializing).
