Im try to decide whether or not to start one of these guys today...any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Its a maximum inning league, so once you use up the innings you are done. At this point, Im +33.2 innings, so I only want quality starts with my spot starters.

Ervin Santana @ CWS....I havent been starting him on the road because he hasnt been able to figure it out as of yet. Dye may return to the lineup and Thome is probably out at least another game...which makes it an interesting decision. As of now, Im not starting him.

Ramon Ortiz @ Det...As a socaler, Ive seen this guy implode many times...but he seems to have things under control this year. His numbers thus far have been very good...with the exception of Ks. Detroit seems to be in a bit of a slump, so again...its an interesting decision.

Basically, do you think either of these guys is worth a spot start? Im looking for a "quality" start, can I get one from either guy today.

And since you are already +33, I would bench both...

Santana is probably the worst starter in the league on the road. Check out his splits...don't do it.

On the road:

2007: 8 1/3 IP, 14 H, 11 ER, 7 BB, 6 K (11.88 ERA, 2.52 WHIP)

2006: 87 2/3 IP, 88 H, 58 ER, 35 BB, 65 K (5.95 ERA, 1.40 WHIP)

At home:

In 06, he had a 3.02 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 116 IP.

So far in 07, he has a 1.93 ERA and .86 WHIP in 14 IP.

If you roster him, you should only start him when he's at home.
