Spread Sheet assistance... (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I'm looking to take Dodds' information from the stats link YTD Stats thru Week 17, and cut/paste it into an Excel Spreadsheet. However, when I copy it & then paste it in - it places all the stats onto one line. I'm looking to keep them in column / row formats so that they are more sortable.

Question - is there a spreadsheet on the Footballguys websit I can just download & save me the trouble? OR - does someone know of a way to cut/paste the way I'm looking to do it?

Thank you in advance...

I've struggled with this in Firefox this year. I'm not very tech savvy, so I just do the cut and paste with Explorer, which has still worked well for me. Hopefully someone else has a better plan than that for you.

You can try putting it into a text file, then importing into access. Select "delimited" and choose "space" as the delimitor. I can't guarantee this will work but it may be the only way.

If you cut and paste by position you can use the following steps:1. Cut

2. Paste Special

3. Select Text or Unicode text

4. Select all data then: Data/Text to Columns/Fixed Width/finish

I've had the same issues and the above steps work like a charm.

Sorry - not much of a computer guy... can you detail the step 4 a bit more? By "Select all data" - just highlight it? Not sure of the rest of the step either?

One other trick that helps sometimes if pasting as 'text' doesn't work...Paste it as HTML and see if it will paste into the cells correctly with HTML formatting.

Then select the whole sheet, copy, and paste special into a new sheet as text. For some reason adding that extra step gets you home sometimes.

That's been my experience and solution as well.
