Sshhh don't tell anybody about this wr... (1 Viewer)

I have allways had pretty good luck(more often than not) picking a wr late, that is ready to break out, put up numbers that way out jusify his ADP. This year that guy for me is Kevin Walter. After AJ gets hurt Walter is going to be the main man. Evan when AJ is healthy, he will be drawing the double team leaving Walter one on one with the second corner. I am in what I think is a growing group of sharks that thinks Shaulb is going to out perform HIS ADP, so who else will he be targeting.

Last year walter had over a 100 targets. thats pretty good for a guy that you can get in the 11th round or later.

Who is your Sshhh guy?

Vincent Jackson

He was money in the playoffs last year and he also looked good in the preseason games that he's played.

Until a few weeks ago, its been Derek Hagan. Now that the word is out about him...I'm going to go with Donnie Avery - STL.

I don't have a lot to go on other than a gut feeling, but I think Ernest Wilford in Miami may do decent. Better than his current draft position, which is very low or not drafted depending on your leeg size.

Wilford isn't even the starter for Miami, and is a risk of being cut (although not likely). Hagan is the starter opposite Ginn in Miami.

if something happens to Stallworth, i think Travis Wilson could make some noise.

provided he doesn't get cut tomorrow.

Just completed another draft (and still about 6 more to go....)

Looks like most aren't up to speed on injuries, so look for a WR3/4 on a team with starter's potential.

I'm talking about the WR situations in SEA (Obomanu/CTaylor, but only in very deep leagues - target Burleson), PHI (DeSean Jackson esp. with PR yds, or even Hank Baskett), and SF (Josh Morgan with Bry Johnson out earlier).

Mark Clayton is a SOD candidate. Anyone who watched (stomached) Q1 of the game last night saw it.

Clayton was hurt last year - throw it out. The guy is Top 30 talent.

I also like Walter, just picked him up as my WR5 behind Wayne, SSmith1, Bowe and Galloway.

Picked him over Rice, Hackett both of which I like.

JJones, Battle on WW I have my eye on.

If only there QB situation was anything to get excited about. (Baltimore)Mason isn't going anywhere and IMO looks like the WR to own here. If Heap's healthy he'll get his too. Clayton may be back, but IMO his upside this year is 60 800 5. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he topped 50 650 4.Nice calls on the Seattle WR's. I actually like Courtney Taylor this year more than Clayton. (FWIW I expect Taylor to start the year at flanker and expect Engram to return to his WR3 role). If Obomanu happens to grabs Taylor's job, I'd take him over Clayton as well.

It's a bit of a longshot, but what about Jabar Gaffney as a 3rd WR in NE? They already have their little quick guy in Wes Welker, but with more teams keying on him this year, Gaffney could be productive as a 3rd guy, especially in PPR leagues.

I don't think I have a shhhhh guy but I did pretty well stocking up on WR last week. My league is start 1 rb, 1wr, and 2 flex (wr,rb,te) and I usually like to stack up good wr talent because after the elite RBs are gone, you can usually have more WRs that you can get late in drafts outscore RBs that go earlier. I drafted Vin. Jackson in the 11th, Mark Clayton in the 14th, and David Patten in the 17th and last round. Adding them up to my starters I have good depth and potential trade bait to upgrade other positions down the line.

Snag Bryant Johnson, Arnaz Battle, or Josh Morgan (already mentioned) and wait for Martz to start slinging the ball around in SF. The WR you pick might be useless or he may go for 1,000 and 6 TD's. "49er wideouts is the new Bronco running backs". Throw a dart at the depth chart and hope for a hit. :bye:

Steve Breaston.

#3 wr in what should be a high powered offense. In leagues that give kr/pr yards he's that much more dynamic and Boldin isn't exactly the epitome of perfect health.

Antonio Bryant. Galloway has been nursing a sore groin all preseason, Hilliard's a year older, and Clayton and Stovall have yet to display any sort of consistency.

Just got Bryant Johnson after Morgan. Thank you.

Courtney Taylor for me too. When is the last time the starting flanker in Seattle was not productive? If Engram should be done for the year he could be the starter all season.

There are 3 WRs I have been hoarding in late rounds:

1) Kevin Walter WR HOU: A number of references in this thread so I won't go into much more detail.

2) Justin Gage WR TEN: He is the #1WR in TEN and I've drafted him in last round twice and picked up as an FA in my other league. I believe he's capable of 70+ receptions, 800-1000yds and 6+TDs. We start 3 WRs and I have real confidence he'll be a solid WR3/flex player.

3) Derrick Mason WR BAL: Someone has to catch the balls from Flacco/Smith. Not likely to have many TDs but for my PPR league his 70+ receptions are a very nice fit. I also waffled on Clayton but he's a higher risk for the reward for my roster at this time.

Nice topic. Lots of good players mentioned.

I'll throw out more of a reach. James Hardy. Parrish and Reed are nothing special.

Also, either Jackson or Royal on Denver. Somebody has to get the ball there, even when Marshall is back.

James Hardy in Buffalo. A good shot to start opposite Evans even after missing 2 Preseason games with a hamstring . He is huge and fast and will be a red zone target. And that Royal kid in Denver, already a starter and week 1 #1 with Marshall out.

I haven't drafted him in any league yet and all I have left is an auction, which is my most important league, but I've pretty much decided to put one dollar on Matt Jones at the end of the bidding. I heard he is really focused and Garrard is looking to him, then he looked different to me in the last preseason game. Determined and catching anything near him. He is still a very interesting prospect if the light goes on. If I'm right, he will never be cheaper than on draft day. If I'm wrong it's always good to have someone who is easy to drop.

wow, Matt Jones making a comeback. I guess i'll pick him up in yahoo as a fifth just in case but i think Garrard spreads too mcuh. I already grabbed Kevin Walter and he allowed me to draft a stud RB instead of a WR with a bigger name who would likely do less (see

There's a new WR in Cincy named Chad Ocho Cinco I've got my eye on.
Dont take him he is way way way overrated , each year he opens his big mouth like he will go 1400yds and 12-13 Tds like the bests in the NFL but he always end with a production of around 8TD . He has got a big mouth but cant back up what he says .

I agree with Matt Jones , i guess he started working hard and learn the offense and it makes a huge difference .He will be the #1 receiver in JAX this season.

With Obomanu breaking his clavicle, Courtney Taylor certainly becomes a more interesting pick. If people drafting today miss that bit of info, Taylor could really turn into a late-round bargain.

I also like Steve Smith of the Giants - good route runner. He went in the 19th in my draft last weekend.
