Late notice, but TCM doing a Kubrick night for anyone looking for something to watch…

Christiane Kubrick singing “The Faithful Hussar” at the end of Paths of Glory hits me every ******* time.

I think the pacing and "bloat" are what give this movie such a feeling of claustrophobia/eeriness/helplessness.  

Agreed. It also allows the viewer time to process and analyze what they have just seen. It is also used to build suspense at times.  It is certainly intentional and used to great effect for all of the above.

As great as many of these are, the most re-watchable of them all is Full Metal Jacket.  If I am flipping through the channels and see it is in the boot camp part of the movie, I'll stop and watch almost every time.

Can't say that about any of his other movies (well....except for certain parts of EWS.....but that's a different issue entirely).

I still think the answer is 2001, but that thought just came to me.

See I feel like The Shining and A Clockwork Orange are in the same category, and I might not even stick with FMJ through the second half.

From what I remember they don't edit movies, they just program them late at night.
