Start 2 QB Draft Help (1 Viewer)

Just had our draft last Sunday in a 10 man - 2 QB league. We also start 2RB/3WR/ 2 Flex (RB/WR/TE)/1TE/1K/2 DEF

18 QB's went in the first 7 rounds. I took 3 in my first 8 picks. I expect either Kolb or Stafford to put up very nice

fantasy numbers this season and maybe both will. In either case I have both to start as my QB2 behind Romo who

probably has the most weapons he's ever had and a very favorable passing schedule.

Here are the first 7 rounds of our draft (my picks in bold):

1.1 Chris Johnson

1.2 Adrian Peterson

1.3 Ray Rice

1.4 Aaron Rodgers

1.5 Maurice Jones-Drew

1.6 Drew Brees

1.7 Stephen Jackson

1.8 Frank Gore

1.9 Peyton Manning

1.10 Tom Brady

2.1 Andre Johnson

2.2 Michael Turner

2.3 Philip Rivers

3.2 Larry Fitzgerald

3.3 Jay Cutler

3.4 Pierre Thomas

3.5 Calvin Johnson

3.6 Randy Moss

3.7 Reggie Wayne

3.8 Brandon Marshall

3.9 Shonn Greene

3.10 Miles Austin

4.1 Knowshon Moreno

4.2 Carson Palmer

4.3 Ryan Matthews

4.4 Brett Favre

4.5 Roddy White

4.6 Rashard Mendenhall

4.7 Marques Colston

4.8 Greg Jennings

4.9 Desean Jackson

4.10 Jamal Charles

5.1 C. J. Spiller

5.6 Steve Smith NYG

5.7 Anquan Boldin

5.8 Dallas Clark

5.9 Chad Ochocinco

5.10 Jonathan Stewart

6.1 Brent Celek

7.4 Pierre Garcon

7.5 Jahvid Best

7.6 Tony Gonzalez

7.7 Chad Henne

7.8 Mark Sanchez

7.9 Donald Driver

7.10 Ronnie Brown

My complete team (showing which pick at that position they were):

QB6 Tony Romo (Rd 2)

QB14 Kevin Kolb (Rd 5)

QB20 Matthew Stafford (Rd 8)

RB4 Maurice Jones-Drew (Rd 1)

RB16 Rashard Mendenhall (Rd 4)

RB23 Jahvid Best (Rd 7)

RB29 Reggie Bush (Rd 9)

RB38 Ricky Williams (Rd 12)

RB40 Michael Bush (Rd 13)

RB51 Bernard Scott (Rd 19)

WR3 Calvin Johnson (Rd 3)

WR16 Steve Smith CAR (Rd 6)

WR29 Hakeem Nicks (Rd 10)

WR45 Devin Hester (Rd 14)

WR48 Vincent Jackson (Rd 15)

WR54 Jacoby Jones (Rd 17)

WR58 Jabar Gaffney (Rd 18)

TE14 Heath Miller (Rd 16)

K10 Neil Rackers (Rd 21)

D/ST7 Steelers (Rd 11)

D/ST7 Panthers (Rd 20)

I feel really good about my team. My only weak postion is TE but Heath Miller is still solid, just not sexy.

Also I'm debating keeping a roster spot for Vincent Jackson. If he's not traded or shows up soon, I might

have to cut him to free up a roster spot to swap in guys during bye-weeks. I also have so much solid depth

that I should have some great trading chips to play with throughout the season. Let me know what you think

of my team and draft strategy.

I actually traded out of the 3 spot originall to drop back to 5 as I was wrestling between Ray Rice and Maurice Jones Drew.

I also got good word that the guy picking at 4 was almost certainly going to go with either Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers.

Knowing that, by dropping back to 5 I was pretty much assured to get either Rice or MJD which I was great with either and

also moved up a few spots in the 2nd in order to land a top 7 QB as I was worried about all 7 going in the first 17 picks.

They lasted 19 picks, but by being at 16 in round 2 I was able to land Romo who was the 4th QB on my board. I also think

that being a few picks earlier in the 4th enabled me to somehow land Rashard Mendenhall as both he and Ryan Matthews

slid into the 4th. I also think I got steals of Jahvid Best in the 7th, Reggie Bush in the 9th, Hakeem Nicks in the 10th,

Ricky Williams in the 12th, Michael Bush in the 13th and Jacoby Jones in the 17th. I like mixing most of my picks with

getting great value at each pick with a lot of potential upside mixed in. I rarely will reach for a player as so many values

slide right to me when I wait.

Best of luck to everyone in your 2QB leagues. It certainly adds much more strategy to the entire draft as you can see

how evenly the picks are in the first 4 rounds between QB/RB/WR.

I would say this is more indicative of how it will go in my other league.

Crazy seeing drafts like this. In my 2 QB league people go nuts for QB in the first 2 rounds. Around 80% of all picks in the first 2 rounds are QBs.

And to top it off, the 2 QB thing isnt even a requirement, Qb was simply added as an eligible flex position.

I just found out that the league that I'm drafting in this weekend has been bumped to a 2-QB starter  It makes sense though - normally we've had 10-12 teams, but it looks like we'll only have 8 this time. Not just QBs, but lots of starters everywhere. We start: 2 QB, 3 RB, 4 WR, TE, K, DEF, and 6 IDPs (2 DB, 2 DL, and 2 D flex). The scoring is kind of strange too ... seems to heavily favor QBs (all TDs = 6 pts, 25 yds = 1 pt passing, 20 yds = 1 pt receiving, 15 yds = 1 pt rushing, 0.5 PPR, turnover = -2 pts). See how that works out? Not only are QBs on the same level as the other positions for TDs, they're not that far before for yardage!

What do you think my approach should be? Crunching VBDs with these settings in Draft Dominator, 5 QBs rank in the top 10 (with Schaub close behind at #13). Not just that, but after CJ the next 3 spots are all QBs (Rodgers, Brees, Peyton). Getting one of the top 6 QBs seems essential here. I don't think I could pass at CJ if I got #1 ... but after that it's tough. And I'm not sure if the other managers are thinking about the strategic implications as much as I am. If they go by typical ADPs I could make a killing. I'm kind of hoping for a late 1st round pick this time - giving me enough picks to gauge how the other managers are acting, and react accordingly.

My other 2QB League.

What about auction values. What percentage would you put forth for two stud QBs?
Hmm totally different realm there. Im not sure how I would approach it. It would depend on how much I valued the QB position compared to the others. IF the league scoring favors QB's heavily, I might go as high as 40% of revenue for the 2QB's. If the scoring is more even, probably 1 stud and 1 bargain.

2QB league draft. .5ppr. 6pts all TD's. 10 team.

We have to start 2QB, 1RB, 1WR, and 3Off. Flex - so lots of variations of lineups.

1.7 Brees

2.4 Schaub

3.7 R. White

4.4 A. Foster

5.7 J.Best

6.4 Moreno

7.7 A.Bradshaw

8.4 Bowe

9.7 Celek

10.4 Know

11.7 Orton

rest were IDP's and K

Figure I'll be starting:

Brees

Schaub

Foster

Best

Moreno

R.White

Bradshaw/Bowe

5QB's gone in the first 14 picks

I don't think any one strategy is *crucial* but I do think you'll be in much better shape if you take at least 1 stud qb. In leagues that give 6 points for passing td's I think you have a HUGE advantage if you snag 2 of the elite guys.

Of course, as with any strategy, if you whiff on all your mid and late round picks you're screwed.

I just finished an auction. 8 team league with 21 starters (idp). Average $10/ per player. Not sure how useful this will be but I ended up with (only lisng my starters):

Brady ($31)

Brees ($54)

Turner

Ronnie Brown

Greene

Roddy White

Harvin (point for return yards)

Miles Austin

Amendola

Gates

My depth is beyond horrid and my idp'ers are questionable at best...but when other folk are starting the likes of Garrard as their qb #2 it gives me a lot of room for error. My #2 qb is nearly as good as anybody's #1.

I dominated the regular season of an 8-team league two years ago where we started two QBs (although I lost in the playoffs thanks to Andre Johnson's monster game against the Titans in week 15  ). First in total points and had the best record, and I didn't take a QB until the last pick of the 7th round. My first 12 picks:

1.8 Randy Moss

2.1 Steven Jackson

3.8 Brandon Marshall

4.1 M Jones-Drew

5.8 Reggie Bush

6.1 Greg Jennings

7.8 Jay Cutler

8.1 Donovan McNabb

9.8 Chris Cooley

10.1Chris Chambers

11.8 DeAngelo Williams

12.1 Chris Johnson

So, doing extremely well by not taking a QB early in a "start two QB" league can be done. You just have to draft well. It helped that I had Cutler projected really high that year, and he was going in the 6th or 7th round of most drafts.

As a sidenote, it still makes me ill that that team did not win the championship. :wall:
