Starting 2 RBs on the same team (1 Viewer)

For leagues with a flex spot, what is your experience starting the 2nd half of a RBBC from the same NFL team? I think this is especially relevant in bigger leagues where RB talent thins considerably by Round 6.

The first RB would probably go in rounds 2-3, the 2nd RB would go in rounds 6-9. Has anyone had any success with this in the past?

Examples that would be relevant for 2012 seem to be:

Charles/Hillis

Bradshaw/Wilson

F.Jackson/Spiller

Wells/R.Williams

I have done this in the past with my McFadden/Bush combo a couple years ago and Ray Rice/McGahee that same year (2010).

Other than that, I have never really gone with this tactic. You may consider it with the Hillis/Charles combo this season, but other than that I would not look at it too hard.

There has to (1) be a track record that the team is willing to rotate them in frequently enough (i.e. Shanny may have four backs who see 100 rushing yards in a game in a given season, but always features one guy per game) and (2) that they have a good enough line to support that much rushing and the talent to lift the second stringer into a position where he can get points.

I find it interesting, you left off the best couple of situations for this

Foster/Tate: After Foster came back from injury/bye, Tate scored 10+ points in four of the remaining games (not bad)

Stewart/Williams: In PPR, Stewart had 11 games of 10+ points and Williams had 7 games over or at 10 points

Even then, it is risky if you do not look how they use them...Tate's production fell off because Foster was back in (so the numbers are misleading)...someone mentioned the Rice/Magahee split in 2010 and that with a split like Carolina, is where I could see someone inserting both in a week in/out basis. The other way is really just a handcuff.

Problem is, we have no idea how the coaches are going to use Wilson/Bradshaw and Hillis/Charles to where you would draft both EXPECTING to use both each week. If you want to do this, I would go to where the track record is and that is Carolina...problem is, you are going to likely use two picks by round 5 to get them.

In August, it's a poor strategy. In October or Novemeber if you fall backwards into it, it might work.
