Starting a new league (1 Viewer)

I'm not really sure what's out there in terms of options. I'd be willing to splurge on something like a CBS league ($180), but do they really offer much beyond a few bells and whistles?

I'm intrigued by the idea of fantasy football done like fantasy baseball or hockey, whereby teams compete in stat categories and win by winning the most categories--does anyone know of a site that lets you do this for fantasy football?

And is it possible to have an online, slow auction?

Sorry if this is the wrong arena for such a thread, I'm just a little fed up with the leagues I'm in now and can think of a million cool ideas to make a better league, so long as I can find a site (fleaflicker, espn, yahoo, etc.) that can accommodate me.

Does anyone have any suggestions or innovations they could share?

Funny thing: MFL.com, literally, is the site for some consulting firm. I thought Saint was just being a ####!Of course, MyFantasyLeague.com seems to be promising, so thank you!Still would like to know: Does anyone play in a league with stat categories, where you must win the most categories to win the matchup? Fantasy baseball and fantasy hockey work like that, it seems pretty impossible that no one has thought to apply it to football. There are some interesting advantages; with lineups that have a lot of flex positions, if your opponent starts extra wideouts to say, try and claim receiving TDs and receiving yards (2 categories), it may effect what you do. Do you try and match him? Do you go the other way, and start RBs to claim the rushing categories? Seems more interesting than how most leagues work now, whereby you start your best lineup and your aggregate stats are compared to someone else's, and hopefully yours is > his.

FWIW: I HATE categories. In hoops my team scores 300 pts, 200 more rebounds more than yours and its only two points..... :yucky: .....besides there's no place for that here. What are you gonna do? reward a team that had more receptions, less fumbles, less INTs, and more completions with a win over your team that put up 500 more passing yards, 250 more rushing yards, and 5 more TDs?

Lol, so they do that for fantasy BASKETBALL too!Not saying there aren't drawbacks; you're right (although it would also keep from having clearly superior teams get beat because Julio Jones suddenly decides to go off for 30 points). It's all in how you design it; clearly, you have to be careful with how you weigh everything. But another cool advantage that I can see, for us IDP enthusiasts, is that it makes defenders more valuable. If you have sacks as a stat category, a guy like DeMarcus Ware could be as valuable to your team (for his sacks and tackles) as, say, Adrian Peterson (rushing yds and rushing TDs). I think that's a little more accurate to real life, no?

#1 use MFL

#2 make it a salary capped league, $50 off season cap, $100 in season, $.25 increments, pure auction

there ya go - aint nothing better

my bad, you're right, you could adjust it to be fun, I was kind of harsh with "no place for it." I'd probably avoid that type of league myself since I quit basketball because of it. But ya, depends on your preference.

DeMarcus Ware is actually ranked 36th out of all players in my league. The highest IDP player is Jared Allen at 15. 3rd is JPP at 49. The scoring for the league makes them very relevant, but considering defensive players gain less trackable stats there's not much more you can do. The league also emphasizes QB a little so the top 11 are QBs, but QBs have been emphasized more lately just because the NFL is changing into a passing/big play league. 12th is LeSean McCoy with 360.87 and Allen is behind 3 ranks with 342.00. It has made defensive players very valuable and sometimes more valuable because defensive players that put up big stats consistently are much more rare than consistent offensive players.http://football9.myfantasyleague.com/2011/top?L=28743&SEARCHTYPE=BASIC&COUNT=500&YEAR=2011&START_WEEK=1&END_WEEK=13&CATEGORY=overall&POSITION=*&DISPLAY=points&TEAM=*

It's been some years since I was involved in mfl leagues and I remember those fondly. Would also suggest checking out RTSports because that's a good one.
