Starting a QB and the opposing defense the same week. (1 Viewer)

I'm in the Bowl game this week and with my matchups and injured players, my best option at QB is Brett Farve and my best option at defense is the Vikings. Would I be shooting myself in the foot for starting both? Would I be better off going with a different defense who has a tougher matchup?

Always play your best players. If Favre is on your bench and throws for 3 TDs, the Vikes D still takes the hit and you get zero points from Favre. Don't start him only if you think the Vikes D will shut him down and you have a better option. An offensive player is going to score or not score against your D regardless of whether or not you start him. So you play your best player at each position.

:goodposting: Farve ended up having a so so day (7 fantasy points in my league), but the Vikings had a great day (21 fantasy points) so it evens out some.

Yep...never over-think this. In fact, last week in a quarter final game, I started Vick and the Dallas D/ST when they played each other. Vick had 40+ points and the Dallas D/ST had 20+....not too bad.
