Amid all of the stories about the Porter/Stevens banter and Big Ben's nightlife comes this little story that might actually have an impact on the game:

Steelers notebook: Kreider hobbledBy Joe BendelThursday, February 2, 2006 Steelers fullback Dan Kreider (knee) missed the Steelers' first full practice Wednesday. He is listed as questionable. Kreider missed practices the latter part of last week with the injury, as well. He has played an integral part of a running game that ranked fifth in the NFL. Jerome Bettis calls Kreider the most underrated player in the league. Kreider is the only fullback on the Steelers roster, though third-down back Verron Haynes was drafted out of Georgia as a fullback. Tight ends Heath Miller and Jerame Tuman have lined up at fullback this season. Joining Kreider on the sideline was defensive end Travis Kirschke, who is questionable with a groin injury.

Kreider is a HUGE part of the Steelers running game and is the only fullback on the roster. It would be a big blow if Kreider was unable to play this Sunday. On the positive side I saw another report where Cowher said that Kreider was "further ahead right now" than Kirschke and that he hopes he'll be able to upgrade the status of both as the week progresses.

I saw this and immediately checked 3 other injury reports and saw nothing. I chalked this up to a mistake, but now there's a story to go w/ it...

Whaaaaat ?!?! When the hell did this happen? I hadn't heard anything about Kreider being hurt, and I've listened to probably 50 hours of hype already.

I think Steelers had 3 on the injury report Two were Q and one was P. I saw Kreider, Ithink the other was Harrison. I missed the 3rd guy. Kreider would be a huge blow . . . more single sets I would assume.

Kreider didn't practice all last week but I didn't think much of it until I heard he missed practice yesterday. I am sure they are being cautious but if he misses practice Friday it does not look good.

And in Kreider's sake, this applies even if he was doubtful for the SB.

Didn't they have another fullback on the roster? I seem to recall another white fullback or that might have been Wittman a few years back......
