Steve Smith & Brandon Marshall Owners... (1 Viewer)

Smith is out 2 games. I'm afraid Marshall may miss a few games too. :kicksrock: In most of my leagues, we play our division opponents during the first 4 weeks. Anyone else worried about that 0-2 start? :bag:

Pick up Djax if he's still around. Rumors of his demise are greatly exaggerated due to Alex Smith and the 9ers last year. Two years ago he had 950 yrds and 10 TDs in 13 games, and he has had plenty of other strong years. 30 isn't so old that you want to discount him.

Just sit it out!! Hope for the best. Unless your built to win this year only.. But it's going to be hard to get good value for either player at this point.

Not much to do except start a backup instead so for me it is start F. Taylor/D.Williams/S. Rice instead.

It hurts but just have to survive those first two weeks.

Steve Smith & Brandon Marshall Owners..., What are we gonna do?
Lose!Seriously though, hopefully you came with at least one good backup. I've been lucky enough to have Roddy White as my 4th receiver. So, you just hit waivers for one more guy, and hope he can be a decent #3 for the 2 weeks you need him.Things could be so much worse. Only being w/o a player for 2 games isn't so terrible. Maybe They're a little fresher in week 16 because of time missed, and break that long TD that they wouldn't have w/o the weeks off.

I too have both in a league where I traded my first round pick. My top player is a 3rd round pick(Brees) until they return(no RB required-can start 5 WR's). I have Driver and Reggie Brown. Maybe Ricky and Jamal can shine for a few games too. Or 2 TE's.

My first week opponent has Javon and the 2nd opponent has Travis Henry so maybe I have a shot.

If not there's always the wild card. :lmao:

I have Brandon Marshall and oddly enough my opponent in week 1 has Steve Smith so that should be interesting.

I still have Wayne and Bowe VS Harrison and Ginn for him.

I think those touting D-JAX as a suitable fill-in are way off, I don't see him becoming the go-to-guy in Marshall's likely absence, more likely it will be Stokley or Scheffler, somebody that already has Cutler's trust.

On the other hand, Muhammad could be a solid option those first 2 weeks, I know he's not the same player now, but the last time Smith was hurt when Carolina had Muhammad he was a monster.

Boy am I glad I got Steve Smith, Brandon Marshall and Javon Walker all on the same dynasty team... :(

I also have Marshawn Lynch who thankfully avoided punishment...

Stokley has never been a number 1 receiver and is 2 years older than DJax. His best season is 1100 + 10 TDs as a number 3 on the colts, but his 2nd best was last year 635 + 5. D Jax was one of the top fantasy producers in his mid twenties, putting up a 4 year stretch of 1100/8, 900/4, 1100/9, 1200/7. Djax has much higher upside than Stokely, more talent, a better track record and is younger. Stokely is best as a 3rd banana, not a number 1. Scheffler should have a productive season.

I'm not saying Stokley is going to bee all that good either, just that D-JAX isn't going to be anything special. He looked terrible last year, it wasn't all the team around him, he can't separate anymore and his knees are clearly a problem. Seattle thought he was done and so far they look to be right. As for Jackson being 2 years younger than Stokley...so what? He may be 2 years younger, but in football years he's about 5 years older. Bottom line, without Marshall I don't Denver's offense is going to be any good. What little production there is will likely go through Scheffler and Stokley. If Marshall gets a 2-game suspension Denver will be fine, if its 8 games, their season may be just about over before he makes it back.

Poor guy. Maybe they'll make up for lost time when they return.

I'm not dropping Smith much, if any at all. I draft more on a PPG basis, and losing him for 2 games hurts, but I'd like to have the guy the rest of the way over others that I have ranked below him.

I had him at 5 the beginning on his tier and will be dropping him to 9 the end of the tier.

Cutler and Denver's offensive line should be good enough that there will be some balls and yards to go around. Remember what the advice is for, we are talking to a guy who thinks he has lost his top two receivers for the first two weeks and trying to find a way to replace their production. Djax is likely a waiver wire guy right now who stands to get first look at those passes, this is his best bet for putting up competitive WR play. My advice is to pick him up if you have a spot and hold through the preseason games, if he still looks atrocious its an easy cut, but I think its his best bet. Muhsin wouldn't be bad either but he's less likely to be available. BTW even though he sucked last year he put up 500 yrds and 3 TDs on a team that had historically bad QB and Oline play. He is going to see a big improvement in his surroundings and if he has an additional improvement in his health 800 yrds and 5-6 TDs isn't outrageous.
