Steve Smith GTD? (1 Viewer)

I can't afford another crappy game from Smith so he's been scrapped in favor of Holmes, no GTD necessary.

A little off the point, but this game features the oldest combined age of starting QBs in NFL history. 82 years worth of QBs on the field.

FYI

Steve Smith is currently WR11 in my league scoring (.1 per yard, .5 per catch, 6 per TD). But, Steve has fallen off the planet since week 2. From weeks 3 thru 10, he is WR40. It's hard to sit a stud like Steve, but he's only had one good week since week 2 (week 6 - 10 catches for 136 yards and 1 TD). Since week 3, he is averaging 4.29 catches for 45.57 yards and .28 TD's. With those numbers, it may be time to explore other options at WR. Steve Smith owners aren't half as annoyed as Steve Smith himself. He's dying to get Jake back next year.

I have a gut feeling that Smith play and does well Sunday.

I think he plays but I don't see any reason to believe he'll do well. I posted this in another Smith thread. Here is what the Packers have allowed to No. 1 WRs this season so far:Week 1: Reggie Brown 1-14-0Week 2: Plaxico Burress 2-32-1Week 3: Vincent Jackson 6-98-1Week 4: Vikings don't have a No. 1 WRWeek 5: Bernard Berrian 1-10-0 (he got hurt and didn't play much in the second half).Week 6: Santana Moss 0-0-0Week 8: Brandon Marshall 3-74-0Week 9: Dwayne Bowe 0-0-0 (got hurt and barely played; no WR caught more than 2 passes)Week 10: Vikings don't have a No. 1 WROnly 2 TDs allowed and only one strong yardage game (by Jackson in Week 3). Packers don't give up much to No. 1 WRs.

Besides Burress those guys are all mediocre at best.

I would say Brown, Berrian, Moss, Marshall and Bowe are all better than mediocre. And with the exception of the Vikings, all of them have better QBs than the Panthers will trot out onto the field tomorrow. The bottom line here is No. 1 WRs don't get it done against the Packers. Is Smith the most talented WR the team has faced so far this season? Absolutely. But has that helped him against lessser defenses who give up more WR production than the Packers allow? Nope. So if he's been terrible (not his fault obviously but he has been) against lesser defenses, why would anyone reasonably expect him to do well against a better defense? And that's not even taking into consideration the fact he clearly isn't 100%.

Sounds like an overly optimistic Steve Smith owner to me. And as a Steve Smith owner myself, I would like to believe you are right, but if he has a big game this week, it will be from my bench!! Which probably pretty much ensures his success! :)
