After the Rain

Admittedly, it is hard to say that a top 20 pick provides tremendous value, but I see Steve Smith as an exception this year. Here are some reasons:
1. With Delhomme at the helm, his numbers have been consistently at the top of WRs in catches, yards and TDs each of the last two years. In fact, I read in FFIndex that if you projected his numbers from the 11 such games last year he would have again been the league leader in each category.
2. Even with the very modest FBG projections, he comes out around 10-12 overall in start 2 RB, 3 WR leagues according to the Draft Dominator. despite that his ADP is about 15. If you put in his averages with Delhomme the last two years he is #3 overall. The FBG projections should be the floor in my opinion and even then you get a little value when taking him around 15. If he performs where he has with Delhomme, you have a steal!
3. His schedule seems manageable and is at worst no tougher than last year IMO.
4. There is nothing I see in Carolina that would lead me to expect a decrease in his numbers.
I really think this guy is easily the best WR in the league. His performance in the first couple of games in the playoffs in 2005 was phenomenal. He is healthy and motivated.
There is no doubt, though, that there may be something I am not seeing regarding his prospects so I'd love to hear your other thoughts on this issue.
