(TheHuddle) Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 7. Analysis: It's likely just a veteran taking a breather. Smith has a good matchup this week against the Falcons secondary. Last week he was held to two catches for 32 yards primarily due to a strong effort from Bucs CB Aqib Talib.

Talib left in the first quarter with a hammy. While Aqib Talib had something to do with limiting Steve Smith to two catches for 32 yards last week, his effort was not the predominant limiting factor.

I wouldn't be concerned. Steve Smith takes of Wednesdays pretty regularly for just a day to rest. As a Panthers fan, I follow every beat writer imaginable, and there doesn't seem to be any concern about him playing.
I think that CBS calling him "questionable" is really misleading.
Unless he has some kind of illness that no one knows about, I would guess he practices today.
On the poor totals from last week, Smith just had a slow day. It should be noted however, that Cam underthrew him on what would have been a 60-70 yard touchdown.
I'm starting SS in my playoffs but I'm not that happy about it. His totals over the last 5 weeks have been pathetic. It's like he's barely a part of the offense. He's only getting 1 or 2 catches a week for minimal yards compared to the 7-10 catches for huge yards earlier on. I've seriously thought about putting in Mike Williams or David Nelson over him.
Maybe I'm just still bitter about the last time I had him on my team when he cost me a championship with 1 catch before getting ejected from the game.
Rotoworlds mobile iPhone app (sorry no link) has him listed as Probable, "Personal" which i'm assuming is that he was excused from practice for personal reasons, i.e. not injury related...but who knows these days what the truth is.
