Steve Young UNBEARABLE (1 Viewer)

Show me an analyst and I'll find you at least 10% of the population that can't stand him/her.

Most former players are horrible announcers and commentators. Some of the former coaches are ok. I blame it on the rest of you who idolize these guys. Just because they can play football doesn't mean they know how to talk about it. All of the guys on Fox pre-game drive me nuts--they think because they have a ring that they know everything and for the most part they are idiots.

That whole crew after MNF is unbearable, although I liked Scott in the past and liked Young elsewhere in the past, but those 4 are horrific together.

:bag: I used to love Sanders and Mooch until I watch the highlights on the NFL Network. When Sanders first started he was in control and gave really good insight. Now all he does is say "Pay that man" about 100 times a show. STHU. Moochs fake enthusiasm of every highliight and screaming is also unbearable. Then all the music in the background. Would love to see just the highlights with Rich Eisen calmly commenting by himself..no Mooch ,Sanders or music!!

Yall crazy, Simms, Young they are fine. The real problem is Irving and Sanders. They just sit there picking the Cowboys every week, and the Boyz are always the most talented team who are just underachieving. They are the 2 most bias, useless commentators out there.

:hifive: I also can't stand Keyshaun Johnson, he and Irvin are the worst in my opinion. They just talk louder when others disagree with their opinions. I think they fired Irvin from ESPN because TJ was going to kill him. I definitely like Rich Eisen, I like most of the coaches aside when Mooch is doing is crazy excited act. As far as game announcers go, I think their are several former players that do a good job.

I listen to Young weekly on a local radio show and I think he is great. He offers interesting insight from a former hard-working QB's perspective and is not afraid to express his opinion or admit when he is wrong. He does love some Aaron Rodgers, though.

Is this a test? I'll bite:Chris CollinsworthHow could anybody not love that guy? He's insightful, respectful, and brings great knowledge to the booth.

I'll take most of the guys being mentioned over Dilfer. Dilfer is constantly picking on quarterbacks' mistakes, which is hilarious considering what a bumbling, mistake-prone QB he was. But I guess since he lucked into a SB by landing on a team with an all-time great defense, that somehow makes him a good judge of QBs.

both irvin and carter say a lot of really funny and really insightful things.

and then at other times they are incredibly obnoxious and completely kill the discussion. i wish they had better coaching from their producer or whoever their boss is cause they are definitely both smart and hilarious.

I think I am to the point were there is not a media sports figure that I like. Does anyone listen to them drone on for hours before a game?

Sorry I disagree!

Why take any of them? They all suck! As long as you continue to watch it will never get better.

I think Steve Young has taken way too many shots to the head. He just doesn't seem all there and yes he is terrible, but Terry Bradshaw is the worst and that whole crew with him is awful: Jimmy Johnson, Howie Long, etc. All the guffawing and self-congratulating and lack of substance is plain unwatchable. I can't think of any former NFL player or coach that I like as an announcer or commentator. I'd much rather watch Jason LaCanfora or some other relatively sane person quietly preview each game and show a few highlights. Why can't it be as simple as that?

Chris Collinsworth is an exception. He is awesome. I loved it during the Bears/Giants game when Collins was in and they went to the spread offense and Collinsworth commented "oh look the spread offense...I wonder how this will go..." followed by a sack. I could stop laughing

:goodposting:Last year I would have it on just for noise, but this year I cant even do that, all the pregame shows are just God awful.

Collinsworth had me cracking up the entire time during that gamethat line he said right before halftime was great, "Someone put a tent over this circus"Collinsworth is the best one by far. My least favorite person alive is Stuart Scott, he is still using hip-hop cliches from the 90s and makes my blood boil.

Steve Young sounds like he's mentally challenged. All those shots to the head have had an impact, because half the time he sounds like he's drunk and struggling to complete a sentence.

Because that would only take about half an hour. The networks are trying to fill a 2-3 hour slot and are trying to be entertaining. I don't mind some of the goofiness but then again, I don't watch the entire preshow. But yes, Young was very rude and thought he was being funny. I lost count how many times he interrupted people. You know its bad when you NOTICE things like that.

I can't stand Berman. Dude can't finish a sentence, and then he goes into this raspy, non-sensical, hand waving gibberish.

Have you ever seen the America's Game on the 2000 Ravens? Dilfer is one of the "as told by" players and it's pretty hard to listen to him. You'd think he was Joe Montana or John Wayne or someone.

Yeah, but he has atrocious tteeth! Every time he smiles i throw up a bit in my mouth.Steve Young on the other hand is a favorite of mine. The guy is very intelligent and usually expresses something of value. The worst of the worst, however, are the "fantasy football analysts" on ESPN. You can't get more obnoxious. At least with former players you know they have earned the job and actually been in a real game. These fantasy football losers are just a bunch of fat, bald, couch potatoes who couldn't even finish a 40 yard dash. Add to that, they almost seem entitled in some way. I can stand a former great like Deon Sanders being pompous, the guy was the best cover corner i have ever seen! I think he has earned the right to be annoying, but if i have to listen to some fat dude whose fastest recorded 40 foot dash is running to the donut machine, that's beyond the pale. Not to mention they give absolutely HORRIBLE fantasy advise.BTW, what happened to Jon Madden? He was senile towards the end, but i still liked him. If he has passed, RIP (i really don't know).

Jon Gruden is awful and I think he makes Jaworski terrible. I like Tirico. Phil Simms is awful as well. Dan Dierdorff needs to be brought out to pasture.

At first Collinsworth's voice annoyed me, but he's really grown on me. He just needs to stop saying "dead to rights" so often. I only counted one this Sunday, but the week before I think he said it at least four times.Along with Collinsworth and Michaels, I also like Aikman and Buck...

i like dan fouts and i like tim ryan as well. collinsworth use to annoy me, but he has gotten better over the years.

Give me anyone over Collinsworth. I don't like a ton of negativity, and CC seems to find it more than most.He also loves to make over generalized ridiculous statements like:"That was the ____ best/worst ______ I have ever seen"It seems like those are his only 2 approaches toward conversation actually.Honestly, CC is about the only current NFL commentator I complain about, maybe with the exception of Kurt Warner who is just starting out.

Agreed.Collinsworth is the best.2nd is Chucky, his only flaw is his overboard praising of every NFL player he comes across. That MNF crew as a whole is no good though.SNF crew is much better.

I no longer tune in to those shows. It's all schtick and gossip. I read this board for good pre-game info.

I used to suffer through the horrible pregame waiting for injury news for fantasy; now I just check the sunday morning injury report at FBG and I skip the talking heads as much as possible. Terry Bradshaw's schtick is really driving me crazy--he is one of the stupidest players and commentators that there are and he got a ring because he played on a team with one of the greatest defenses of all time. Howie acts like he is smart but he really isn't. Shannon's arrogance is annoying. Jimmy is a bozo. I actually like Michael--at least he can make fun of himself and doesn't take himself too seriously.Whoever mentioned Collingsworth is on--he is a good guy and smart commentator and fair; but, he is the exception that proves the rule. The only these guys are in front of a camera is name recognition. I don't think most of them really do much home work and are not really up on the game anymore.

I loathe Tony Siragusa, Collinsworth, Stuart Scott and Dilfer. There's a reason Aikman and Buck get the games they get. They are the best crew calling football games at this point.**** Stockton is getting old, but he still doesn't get in the way of the game and calls it like a professional who knows actual English words.Nantz and Simms do a pretty good job. Gumbel is a pro, but he puts me to sleep and Dierdorf is pretty much awful at his job.

Matt Millen was allowed to call the Michigan/Michigan State game this weekend!!! Are the networks f****** with the state of Michigan or what? Why hasn't he had to answer one tough question about his tenure as a GM? It's beyond me...
