Steve Young UNBEARABLE (1 Viewer)

:blackdot: I used to love Sanders and Mooch until I watch the highlights on the NFL Network. When Sanders first started he was in control and gave really good insight. Now all he does is say "Pay that man" about 100 times a show. STHU. Moochs fake enthusiasm of every highliight and screaming is also unbearable. Then all the music in the background. Would love to see just the highlights with Rich Eisen calmly commenting by himself..no Mooch ,Sanders or music!!
This was TRUTH, Sanders used to give GREAT insight, not sure what happened since then...

as many have said, collinsworth's voice is terrible. and i used to dislike him strongly, but he's worn well on me over the years. he's among the best of a bad lot, for what that is worth.phil simms is terrible.

I'll take most of the guys being mentioned over Dilfer. Dilfer is constantly picking on quarterbacks' mistakes, which is hilarious considering what a bumbling, mistake-prone QB he was. But I guess since he lucked into a SB by landing on a team with an all-time great defense, that somehow makes him a good judge of QBs. :blackdot:
hah! dilfer is beyond horrible.

I think Steve Young has taken way too many shots to the head. He just doesn't seem all there and yes he is terrible, but Terry Bradshaw is the worst and that whole crew with him is awful: Jimmy Johnson, Howie Long, etc. All the guffawing and self-congratulating and lack of substance is plain unwatchable. I can't think of any former NFL player or coach that I like as an announcer or commentator. I'd much rather watch Jason LaCanfora or some other relatively sane person quietly preview each game and show a few highlights. Why can't it be as simple as that?
the guffawing is terrible. howie long i probably loathe and despise more than any commentator.

I can't stand Berman. Dude can't finish a sentence, and then he goes into this raspy, non-sensical, hand waving gibberish.
ok...i despise chris berman much more than howie long. long is probably #2 on my list behind idiot berman.

I’ll pile on here… never liked Steve Young “the announcer.” He constantly talks down to his colleagues and his audience. It’s almost as though he feels that everything he has to say is so profound and so obvious that he appears bothered by the fact that he has to explain it to the rest of us idiots.

NFL Total Access has become unwatchable for me… Sanders used to be OK, but he and Irvin together are tough to watch. I grew up in a mixed neighborhood and I still can’t figure out WTF they’re saying.

Being a lifelong Cowboys hater, it pains me to admit that Troy Aikman is excellent (and unbiased)… he and Joe Buck are my favorite booth combo.

And what the MNF guys may lack in detail, they more than make up for it in entertainment IMO. Chucky kills me.

Is this a test? I'll bite:Chris CollinsworthHow could anybody not love that guy? He's insightful, respectful, and brings great knowledge to the booth.
Yeah, but he has atrocious tteeth! Every time he smiles i throw up a bit in my mouth.Steve Young on the other hand is a favorite of mine. The guy is very intelligent and usually expresses something of value. The worst of the worst, however, are the "fantasy football analysts" on ESPN. You can't get more obnoxious. At least with former players you know they have earned the job and actually been in a real game. These fantasy football losers are just a bunch of fat, bald, couch potatoes who couldn't even finish a 40 yard dash. Add to that, they almost seem entitled in some way. I can stand a former great like Deon Sanders being pompous, the guy was the best cover corner i have ever seen! I think he has earned the right to be annoying, but if i have to listen to some fat dude whose fastest recorded 40 foot dash is running to the donut machine, that's beyond the pale. Not to mention they give absolutely HORRIBLE fantasy advise.BTW, what happened to Jon Madden? He was senile towards the end, but i still liked him. If he has passed, RIP (i really don't know).
He isn't dead, just retired.

I don't think anything will be worse then the first NFL Network Thur. night crew. That was horrible.

I like Aikman alot - even being a former Cowboy. Buck, I just can't seem to get past the earth-shattering "disgust" he had when Moss pretended to moon the Lambeau faithful. C'mon, it's not like he was texting pictures of his junk......

What's funny too, Collinsworth is his broadcast partner that day, and he's chuckling the whole time.

Unlike a lot of ex-players, Aikman managers to deliver his commentary without sounding like a know-it-all blowhard, which is a big reason why he is so good. His knowledge comes across in a an understated, yet confident, manner.

I listen to Young weekly on a local radio show and I think he is great. He offers interesting insight from a former hard-working QB's perspective and is not afraid to express his opinion or admit when he is wrong. He does love some Aaron Rodgers, though.
I agree. He thinks well on his feet, and doesn't come across like his soundbites have been scripted beforehand.Gruden on the other hand makes me want to hurl every time he uses the word "explosive". Unless there's a drinking game involved around it...

He's starting to remind me of Sean Salisbury with the bullheaded-ness and all. God I hated "Sean".

Young's latest rant about the "violent hit" rules was a bit over the top. Even though I think he is right as far as incompetent QBs in the league, I don't think it was a great career move to say it the way he did. He has had one too many concussions and it is showing

I loved Sean. What happened to him?
On September 25, 2009 Salisbury provided the color commentary for the Lingerie Football League presentation of Friday Night Football. Broadcast on WBFS-TV and KDOC-TV; and streamed online at lflus.com. The Dallas Desire defeated the Denver Dream 20-6.

Not that I am a fan of either but Millen had me rofl during the pregame when they were making their picks.

Steve Young: "JAGWIRES"

Matt Millen: You can't even say it right... Titans.

/cringes anytime someone pronounces it "JAGWIRES"

For all of his deserved bashing as the Lions' GM, Millen is solid as a commentator and isn't afraid to say it like it is.

Are you kidding, that guy was the biggest tool in the shed. What happened is he lost his job.
1.Go to Deadspin.2.search "Sean Salisbury"3.Enjoy!Dude's a total joke.
I think I remember him getting dismissed from ESPN. I never knew what it was for. Its wrong what he did but I still really did enjoy his work on ESPN. Loved his exchanges with John Clayton.

How is it SUPPOSED to be pronounced? :/

Tim Ryan is good. Former player, knows his stuff, and gets football talk all week long on his Sirius show.

Pat Kirwin..incredibly smart but just doesn't have the personality for on air.

Aikman is "the people's" commentator. Good job.

Collinsworth. Pretty danged good.

Michaels and Buck: great sidekicks to Aikamn and CC.

A LOT of guys past that are unwatchable. I would rather miss a game than watch Fox's pre-show all the way through.

Steve Young and Phill Simms are both incredibly intelligent about what they talk about but Phil is pretty bland and is usually a little bit above what we are looking for at the time. Steve Young I don't blame at all because when he started, he was EASILY THE GUY that was really bringing useful knowledge to the table. Problem was, you have to act like the rest of the clowns in the circus to get any run and over the years he has developed the habit of being like they are: Interupting, talking louder, etc. Really getting outside his character. But if you just listen to him break down what is going on during a play, he and JAWS are way beyond anyone else.

Stewart Scott shouldn't have a job. I can't stand to listen to his worn out catch phrases that went out 15 years ago. I half-expect for the fresh prince of Bel_air to be sitting beside him when the camera pans.

I like the fact that he bashed the QB position last night. If you can't read a defense, you shouldn't be playing QB in the NFL. About time someone said it.

Hate to say it, but it's pretty obvious that Steve Young is permanently punch drunk due to all of those concussions. I can't stand him in any format, as he has no sense of timing and how to work with the rest of his crew. I give Jaws props for not shanking him yet.

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are probably the worst 2 man team out there. Just brutal. Used to think Aikman was alright, but he's slipped to the point where he consistently gets the basics wrong. I was vacationing in Central America when I watched the Redskins-Eagles game on ESPN there and the spanish speaking announcers were an upgrade over these bozos despite me not understanding 98% of what they said.

I like Phil Simms. I don't understand the hate for the guy. I thought FOX made a mistake by breaking up him and Greg Gumbel who I also like.

Gus Johnson is the best play by play guy, and it's not close. He does a great job of bringing his enthusiasm and excitement when doing PBP, but he also knows not to speak too much and works together beautifully with the analyst.

Chris Collingsworth has grown on me over the years, after initially thinking he was a joke.

I also like Dierdorf. Always have.

I'm an Al MIchaels fan.

Tirico and that whole Monday night crew is terrible outside of Jaws.

ESPN/Fox/NFLN, etc will start worrying about someone when Joe Public DOESN'T have strong opinions about an analyst.

The idea in these pre game shows is to get people watching/generate buzz and interest. Why do you think Michael Irvin keeps getting hired? People tune in just to hate on him. That = ratings and advertisers.

He used to be public enemy NO.1 of announcers 5-6 years ago. I agree he's good, but most people I saw on boards couldn't stand him.

Millen said it like it is as a GM too...just did not know what the hell he was talking about. How can anyone take what Millen says seriously about players ability when he had complete comtrol over what players he brought to the Lions for 6-7 years? Millens record stands as the worst GM in NFL history and it is not even close.Steve Young had some great ammo to shoot back at Millen..in fact everybody does. What love to see a Lion comment made to Millen.
