Steven Jackson's Value Going Forward (1 Viewer)

Orlando Pace is out, St. Louis abandoing the running game late, people panicking.

How many people still think he is the #2 RB out there for the following formats:

1) Standard scoring, 10 yards / point carrying/rushing. 0 pts per reception.

2) 10 yards/point. (for carrying/rushing). 1 pt per reception.

Has Addai or Westbrook passed him? Larry Johnson?

It's too early to panic over SJax. Ride it out for a few weeks and see what happens. He's a great talent on a team full of offensive talent, I still think he will be very good. He might not finish "#2", but oh well. Players rarely finish where they are projected. Has he been surpassed by Addai and Westbrook? It's still too early to tell. Like I said earlier, ride it out for a few weeks.

Pace went down, @#$% happens in the NFL. It's now time to see if the Rams have somebody that is prepared and hungry enough to take advantage of a great opportunity.

Well, hypothetical situation. If you had the #2 pick in a league that starts this weekend. Who would you take? I am guessing from the reply that it's still going to be Jackson?

I didn't even read the OP. Why wouldn't SJ be the #2 RB going forward?

Did one game sway your opinion that much?

Is Tony Romo the #1 QB going forward?

Plaxico the #1 WR?

Chris Brown the #1 RB?

It's week one, settle down.

In a non PPR league Westbrook would not leap frog S.Jax, PPR is what makes Westbrook as valuable as he is.

In a non PPR you have to consider J.Addai when you take into account the loss of O.Pace, the possibility of T.Holt not being 100% somewhere down the road this season, the addition of B.Leonard etc. In a PPR I'd go S.Jax, in a non PPR Addai, I think he's the safer play.

I think no PPR helps Jackson, since he might lose a few catches to a healthy Bennett or Leonard. I say he's a solid RB1, and still the best choice for the hypothetical #2 pick (since drafts are over). Addai looks very good, though.

Carolina owns the Rams. They've won 4 games straight over them. As bad a game he had Steven Jackson was better this season than last (more yards but more fumbles). I think he'll be fine. How fine is the question.

The offensive line has problems so that has to be looked into but isn't he just screaming buy low right now (after week 1 I know)

Call me stubborn but I'd still have SJax ranked second. A couple more stinkers however (one more actually) and that'll change quickly.

One of the toughest things for a team to deal with is the loss of a stud Olineman like Pace during a game. They entered a game with a specific game plan in place, and losing him obviously threw the whole thing off. but given time to prepare for his loss, make adjustments across the line and practice during the week with the new lineup, I have no doubts that Jackson and the Rams will get somewhat back on track. Losing Pace means a little less time in the pocket for Bulger to run his usual array of plays, so Im sure much of their gameplan will focus on alot of Steven Jackson runs, screens and dumpoffs. Dont fret just yet. The Rams still have a favorable schedule, Jackson is still a beast, and Id probably still take Jackson 2nd overall.

The Rams offensive line will adjust. It might take a game or two for the replacement of Pace to mesh, but I wouldn't worry too much about that, or Steven Jackson.

Didnt O Pace miss alot of time last year?

As a matter of fact I think that's when Sjax stats really took off, especially his catches cause Bulger didnt have time to look downfield

Todd Steussie took over for Pace I beleive, and he's out for the year as well. Some 3rd stringer is being thrown into the fire. I think it's a big downgrade for both S Jax & Bulger.

The Rams right tackle Alex Barron (who's a very good player) is a natural left tackle. If the Rams move him to that spot then maybe everything doesn't seem so bad. Will they make the move though?

I dont think it's as big as you think.

Pace missed the entire 2nd half of the season last year. It was at that point that the team leaned more heavily on SJAX and his carry totals and targets went thru the roof. I wouldn't be too worried yet.

Looks like it's already happening. From the St. Louis Post Dispatch:"Can the Rams overcome the loss of cornerstone tackle Orlando Pace to season-ending shoulder injuries? With Todd Steussie also sidelined for at least half the season with a broken foot, the team is scrambling.

The immediate solution was to move Alex Barron to left tackle in Wednesday’s practice. The Rams used Milford Brown at right tackle and worked Adam Goldberg (the emergency fill-in versus Carolina) with the second unit. Claude Terrell, inactive last week, played right guard as Richie Incognito sat out with his ankle sprain."

The O line is in a bit of a mess right now, but if Incognito comes back this week I think they'll be fine for the Niners.
