Because this topic is nuts! I can't believe the hype and noise this thing is generating. I do wish someone would consolidate this all to one thread so I can ignore it. I'm tired of wading through 'Brett Favre is...' posts. The ridiculous nature of my post reflects the ridiculous nature of the obsession with Favre. Why? Honestly, why start this thread? The other threads are at least in some way, shape or form relevant - maybe not to you but to some people. Not every thread will be for everyone. But this was just silly. Please stop. And don't ever do it again.
Actually, this thread was about the people that are obsessing about Favre, not Favre himself.So...in order to start talking about Favre...you started another thread about Favre?Thats like the media whining about the attention Favre gets...by doing another freakin story about him.
Not many people in here are obsessing about Favre. What other news is out there worth talking about? TO is keeping his mouth shut. CJ is saying hi to his grandmother to reporters instead of running his yapper. This is the only real news out there. Unless you want to talk about how Kenny Irons was released from the Bengals and how that might impact the motivation of Tatum Bell? One of the best QBs the league has seen in the last decade and a half, and his retirement is a huge circus (laughable circus even for those neither for or against GB), and you don't want people to talk about it? Then I've got some advice for you- invest in a video game console to keep you busy for the next month, because Favre is not going away, and neither is his media coverage- on TV, in the newspaper, in fantasy football forums.Actually, this thread was about the people that are obsessing about Favre, not Favre himself.So...in order to start talking about Favre...you started another thread about Favre?Thats like the media whining about the attention Favre gets...by doing another freakin story about him.
We all feel very sorry for Favre. He's the real victim here. Now if he'd have been the kind of guy who calls press conferences just to say he hasn't decided whether or not to retire, or the kind of guy who would go through a "fake" retirement just to get some extra attention, that would be different.Thats like the media whining about the attention Favre gets...by doing another freakin story about him.
I'd like to defer to Stephen A Smith to sum up how I feel about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe3r5pIHBAUNot many people in here are obsessing about Favre. What other news is out there worth talking about? This really should warrant its own thread, no?You don't have to click on the threads. No one is forcing you to read them.Perhaps we should start a petition: "Stop clicking on Favre threads and complaining" and list all the names for whom it applies to I'll start:Burning Sensationfreshly_shorn

And I'll defer to a comment made under that video clip:"this guy is a moron...turn off your tv if you don't want to watch...no one is forcing you to watch "I'd like to defer to Stephen A Smith to sum up how I feel about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe3r5pIHBAUNot many people in here are obsessing about Favre. What other news is out there worth talking about? And that is a real shame. I'm trying to find a link to it, but a fan commented on ESPN today contrasting this fiasco to the way Joe Montana graciously stepped aside and went somewhere else to play. I'm sure it was a biased opinion... and this is a tough spot for GB, but I'm sorry, it's not the only news 'worthy' of discussion. There's 31 other camps going on, umpteen position battles and all those players in new homes or just joining the NFL. I'm much more interested in those stories than an overhyped QB in his twilight who single-handedly torpedoed his team's chance at glory with a typically boneheaded play that encapsulates his selfish nature (in football terms) and lack of fore-thought. I respected Favre and actually liked him. Now he strikes me as a Michael Jordan, Emmit Smith type. And that's not a compliment. This excessive coverage is nothing more than sensationalism at its worst.Though, for the record, it does beat talking about T.O.because Favre is all you will hear about
Agreed. I wish it would go away, but unfortunately it won't. I understand that some people are here to just talk football while others are here to gain an edge in fantasy football. I think that's where the conflict comes, because favre is all that is going on in football, whereas fantasy footballers are more concerned about position battles and who looks good.I'm much more interested in those stories than an overhyped QB in his twilight who single-handedly torpedoed his team's chance at glory with a typically boneheaded play that encapsulates his selfish nature (in football terms) and lack of fore-thought. I thought you wanted this thread to be about the people who were obsessing over Favre and its not about Favre himself? I think Farve can do whatever he wants. Oh yeah, I liked Emmit Smith. And that is a real shame. You're doing a wonderful job, Deanna. He never did call any press conference just to announce he has not decided. Was it you that tried that lie before?

I'm sure *Farve* can, whoever that is, but the Packers rightfully have something to say about what *Favre* does.I think Farve can do whatever he wants. Oh yeah, I liked Emmit Smith.
Nobody is forcing you to come to the Anti-Favre thread threads. If you dont like us discussing our lack of tolerance for Favre threads, do not enter them. You don't have to click on the threads. No one is forcing you to read them.
Think of it as reverse psychology.Great idea, you're tired of hearing about Favre so you start another Favre thread. We dont make this stuff up folks

Exactly. I hate baseball so what else is there.teamroc said:This is one of the better offseason dramas in recent years.I don't like the Packers, or Favre, or care too much where he ends up.But this is classic drama. It's a great he said he said millionaire ##### fest. You can't make this stuff up. And uh it's the offseason.
No... I just started a rumor. Somehow the NY Times picked it up.sho nuff said:He never did call any press conference just to announce he has not decided. Was it you that tried that lie before?Despyzer said:We all feel very sorry for Favre. Quarterback Brett Favre said Saturday that he was still unsure if he would play another season with the Green Bay Packers.
"No change," he said during a news conference at his charity golf tournament. "I don't know why you guys wasted a trip down here. The Packers and I will make a decision at some point soon."
Favre scheduled the news conference, and a personal assistant to the Favre family had said a scoop awaited.
Favre had that news conference every year at his golf event...so no...he never scheduled an evento announce such thing. Some supposed personal assistant said there would be some scoop.No... Holding a press conference for an annual golf event is supposed to convince us that he doesn't seek out the press? I'm not sure you're helping anyone at all.Favre had that news conference every year at his golf event.Happy to help.
Considering that golf event was a fund raising event it makes perfect sense to hold a press conference about it each year.Holding a press conference for an annual golf event is supposed to convince us that he doesn't seek out the press? Fla\/\/ed is on the record of not supporting Favre in this mess. No...holding a press conference every year proves that the claim that he called a press conference to announce he had not made a decision is completely bogus.Holding a press conference for an annual golf event is supposed to convince us that he doesn't seek out the press? Excuse me for the typo...yes the Packers rightfully have something to say...but Favre still has something to say about what he does also. If he thinks he can still play and someone will pay him, good for him. I would love to see him with the Vikes...freshly_shorn said:I'm sure *Farve* can, whoever that is, but the Packers rightfully have something to say about what *Favre* does.bubba191919 said:I think Farve can do whatever he wants. I'm assuming this means you can provide links to these other press conferences? That will not happen. God, please don't let that happen. I'd have to quit my job- my supervisor is a purple-blooded Vikes fan. :shudder:If he thinks he can still play and someone will pay him, good for him. I would love to see him with the Vikes...
Fine. I'll settle for a link that says that. This was widely reported as a routine thing.

Can you verify that? Or is this just another unconfirmed rumor by "unnamed sources" widely reported by all the leading sports news services?Sho nuff only asks for facts, he doesn't provide them! You know the rules!
says the guy that wanted people to provide proof of any trade that involved a clause that the player would not then be traded to another team...yet was unwilling to provide proof of any such secondary trade actually happening.Sho nuff only asks for facts, he doesn't provide them!
