Strategies for Kickers ROS (1 Viewer)

Kickers do matter in our league, especially longer FG's over 50. Question is - if you have a top kicker available, like a Walsh, who has been near perfect but has a tough schedule the rest of the way (Bears twice, GB, Houston 4 out of 5 weeks) and a diminshed offense without Harvin, or a kicker like Suisham where the Steelers are hurting on offense - or do you go for a kicker that may not be great so far but is in a better situation? Example is Vinatieri, who has missed a buncho of kicks but offense is doing very well, lots of opportunities, and schedule is much better (BUF, TN, DET, KC 4 of next 5).

Do you stick with your K no matter what, or make a move if you see a team's fortunes changing?

My recommended kicker strategy: Roster one.

Try to get a kicker on a strong offense who can bang 'fiddies' (50+).

This late in the season, domes/warm weather are the best so you don't have to worry about weather.

Bryant, Graham, Prater, Gostkowski are all on solid offenses putting up points.

Otherwise, try to get Kicker in a game with highest over/under, and on the winning team. Or, pick K vs. creampuffs like KC and OAK who are allowing a ton of points.

What about guys like Tucker who play on a helter skelter type offenses? What to do with them?

Kickers are a crapshoot. But kickers on good teams tend to do better, over the long haul. So go with the averages; pick one on a good team, and stick with him. Eight of the top ten kickers are on teams with winning records.

I love Walsh's schedule weeks 14-17. All domes.

Yeah I'm trying to upgrade in my leagues as well... looking at Walsh, Tynes was dropped in one off his bye, etc. Good offenses first and foremost, followed by conditions.

Hartley may not even be a bad guy to grab - sure a lot of folks were frustrated with him earlier this season, and he may have been cut. The Saints are rolling right now, and he gets a dome.

I personally don't buy into the SOS argument too terribly much - just way too random. Panthers are a terrible team, and yet facing the vaunted Bears D outside at Soldier Field, Medlock banged 5 FGs.
