Stupid draft decisions (1 Viewer)

Quite a few of us now have drafts under our belt. (even though we should never draft before week 3 of the preseason, duh) What are some of the strangest, or possibly down-right stupid moves that you've seen in your own drafts?

Last night in a 10 team PPR league, I watched four QBs go in the first round, only to be followed up by Big Ben going in the second round. Perhaps even more bizarre was Marshawn Lynch going with the first pick of the 5th round, and Jahvid Best staying on the board until the 7th round.

I remember Lhucks posting that Aaron Rodgers was the first pick in his high-stakes league...surely there most be more careless idiots out there donating money to your own leagues.

Whenever I screw up a draft real bad, I just think of Jerry Angelo and remember that he actually gets paid to screw up real drafts.

One thing I notice about situations like this...it doesn't really mean much. So, players move up 4 spots on your board. Now you can get Reggie Wayne instead of Miles Austin. Or maybe you can get Matt Forte instead of Michael Turner. It MIGHT mean you get a guy that you didn't think would make it to you, but it doesn't change the course of the entire draft by any means. runs like that course-correct within two rounds or so. In a QB-friendly scoring format last year five QBs went off the board in the first. I was expecting two. From the 9 spot, I was assuming I could get Turner. Even though an additional three QBs went off the board earlier than I thought, Turner was still the best guy available based on my numbers. Nothing changed.

I definitely agree that the ship will always right itself, however I also feel that those teams that make bad choices in the first two rounds are immediately at a major disadvantage. Looking at the final draft results today, I'd say there are four teams in very bad shape, and with three of them, it relates back to their early picks. They simply didn't focus on studs and instead went for sleepers (questionable sleepers at that) too early. Why pass on a low-risk/high-reward player when you have the chance? That's like going all-in on the first pair you receive in poker, regardless of card value.

meh - i bet those owners are quite happy with their teams and are laughing at you guys with sub par quarterbacks. Not saying, I would have grabbed a qb but I am sure they like their teams just as much as you like yours.

I haven't drafted yet this year, but in retrospect, my own stupid draft decisions always come down to a couple "meh" moves in the mid-rounds. Last year, fearful of a lack of RBs left on my board and hating every minute of it, I took Caddy in the 7th. First player cut. Draft talent, not position, except in extreeeeeeme cases.

There's a guy in my keeper league who goes nuts for rookies every year, and never gets the right ones. It's become a bit of a running joke. He'll probably draft Leshoure this year...

Hey!! I did that last year. I had Crabtree, Nicks & Maclin last season in a keeper league. I went back & forth for weeks & ended up keeping... Crabtree
