Subaru Forester - thoughts? (1 Viewer)

I LOVED my Forester... easily the best car I ever owned. Thing fit me like a glove, was a beast in the snow (I'm in upstate NY) and got pretty good mileage.

Had to trade it in because we couldn't fit 3 car seats in it but boy do I miss it.

On my 3rd subaru.

2005 legacy limited Retired at 242,000 miles

2011 outback limited Retired at 127,000 miles (new work car plan)

2015 outback limited

I won't drive anything else for work. It is also excellent for travel with my kids and great in snow.

I get about 31mpg highway. If you can swing it, spring for the outback limited. My kids love the heated rear seats. People love to hate on subaru until they actually ride or drive in one. Ultimate utility vehicles and I will always have one.

Great for taking your Standard Poodles to the Lilith Fair.
Oh God you just touched a nerve on what's holding me back from any of the small SUV's. All I can think about when I see them is soccer mom. Part of me wants to go bigger and more masculine and screw the practicality of it all. But ai did that last time and ended up buying a car that is totally impractical for my situation. I'm a freaking mess when it comes to buying a car...
The image I am thinking of is not typically associated with a "soccer mom", though I guess many of them do adopt these days.
Awwwwwww, someone has "mommy issues".

Looking at one of these for my wife. She wants a wagon, and these seem like the best combination of reliability, utility, and mpg. I'm looking used, wish they didn't hold their value so well.

Good guess! Lexus convertible. It was my midlife crisis purchase a few years ago. Love the car, but it's terrible in the snow and I get pulled over all the time in it. I had to go to remedial driver training last year and I'm on probation. Too many speeding tickets. So now instead of being chased by cops I'm going to be chased by lesbians...
What are we talking here IS 250...350.

What do you got for shoes on it? Don't tell me you got a set of pizza cutters.

Bought an Outback last year. I like the looks better than the Forrester and it felt roomier inside (Outback is wider, Forrester is taller).

Went snow-shoeing a few weeks ago and the parking area up on the mountain was buried in snow and full of stuck 4wd SUVs and pickups warning me not to pull in. Drove in, parked, and pulled out when we left like I was pulling out of a grocery store parking lot in the middle of summer. Love this car.

250, ironically because I was scared if I got the 350 I would speed too much.

No pizza cutters - can't remember the name of the tires (19 inch staggered) but the rims are Linea Corsi Dyna's. My car looks exactly like the one on this page halfway down (in front of the Golden Gate bridge) - http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/506213-official-linea-corse-owners-thread-23.html#post6361780

2015 Outback Limited owner here. My first Subaru and have to say it's terrific. Looked at a Forester a while back for Mrs. Osaurus and she decided to go with a CR-V. I would've picked the Forester. Subaru makes solid cars and the all wheel drive is pretty nice. I don't drive in snow, but these this are made for it IMO.

I used to work with my dad at a Subaru dealership... Subarus are awesome and so underrated.

I just got back from the dealership. And guess who I see in the showroom looking at the Forester? Yup - a couple of crusty older lesbians. Unbelievable. I think they were checking me out too, which was a little weird. At one point I heard one of them say, "He doesn't come with the car". ????

I test drove the Forester and the Outback. I liked them both, but I'd probably go with the Forester. It's higher up and the visibility is excellent. Feels more like an SUV than the Outback. The Outback rides a little smoother and the instrumentation is better laid out.

Going to the Jeep dealership next to check out the Grand Cherokee.

Subaru's are great vehicles but I'll be damned if I ever get caught driving one after the liberal, tree hugging ####tards had to go and ruin the brand for me. I work in VT probably half of the year, it's a way of life there to drive your Subaru or Prius with your Vermont Strong front license plate and your "insert liberal phrase" bumper sticker(s).

And the only Subaru to me that classifies as an SUV is the Tribeca. A Forester is nothing more than a glorified, mini station wagon.

Debating on whether to get a vanity plate on my truck for all my trips to VT, I'm thinking MORCRBN or CRBNMKR.
