You guys posting your lineups before the start of the season are serious tools. Really
Any particular reason for this?
I don't think they are tools, but I am wondering why someone would want to show their team before the lineups are locked. This is a competition/contest, so why would someone show their hand to others before the games begin? If someone really likes one of the lineups shown, they can create an almost identical lineup, and just switch a kicker and wide receiver around, etc.
Perhaps the guys have no intention of actually using the lineup they are posting here... :lmao:
If that is the case, taking the time to fill out a fake lineup and post it may be even more toolish. Seriously, why show your hand or give anyone else ideas that could benifit them? Wait until lineups are locked then look for your pat on the back.
Perhaps because they thought you might help them by pointing out any serious flaws? Major bye week issues? Or to start discussions of players in this format?Apparently they overestimated your good will?
LOL

Last year there were a few guys who were way underpriced (Gore). I don't know about easy or hard.

The thing is everybody had some of the same guys which made them worthless. I think they did a better job setting it up this year.

This is a stupid question because this is the first time I'm doing this type of league. Once you pick these guys you are stuck with them all season with no switching correct?

Only once the deadline passes. From now till then you can play with the roster as much as you want.

Does anyone know the winning lineup from last year? Or, does anyone have a decent strategy? I have 3qb, 4rb, 6wr, 3te, 3k, 3def. I seem to see less QB & TEs on listed teams.

Yes, I'm a rook at this contest.

I'd be interested in this info aswell, fwiw I went with 2 qb, 5 RB, 8 WR, 2 TE, 2K and 3 def. I went heavy on RB and WR because it accounts for 6 spots each week (2RB, 3WR, 1 flex), I'm assuming my flex will come from RB or WR.

 thanks dude, didn't realize about the flex this time since I looked at what the minimum roster requirements are. Gotta double check now.-QG

IMO the number of players at each position is less important than the overall quality of the players as a group. If you take P. Manning, then you probably can get by with a relatively cheap 2nd QB (Schaub, Campbell, Garcia, etc.) because Manning will be supplying your QB pts most weeks except bye. And you can use the extra slot at another position. If you don't take Manning or another premier QB, then I think you need to assemble a group of QBs (probably 3) to cover byes and produce adequate QB pts. every week. I think this strategy is preferred for weeks 1-13 because of lower variability week-to-week (and less chance of being eliminated), but the Manning strategy is better for weeks 14-16 because of higher probability of big blowout weeks.Same thing with other positions. Except I think you need to start with a strategy for the Flex which is the key component of the contest IMO. With the $250 budget limit, there's just not enough dollars to have good depth (with quality players) at all positions.I liked the contest last year, but I like the contest a lot better this year because of the additional options and strategy required.Multiple objectives (subject to the budget limit): (1) maximize the expected number of fpts across all 10 starting positions, (2) manage bye weeks and minimize the probability of a low week that could lead to elimination, (3) include as many premier and high-quality players on your team as possible, and (4) maintain as much depth as possible across all positions.

ok what is the over/under now on the percentage of teams that are going to have Garrard???
I know, I am kind of upset that I had him before the news today, now I think many more will have him. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

I hope lots of people have Garrard. It'll make this contest a lot easier for everyone else.
Unless you are commenting directly on your estimation of Garrard's skill level, having good value in widely held players does not mean your team can't succeed. I had arguably one of the most generic rosters (by measuring % owned for each player) in the final 250 last year and ended up about 30th overall. I was as high as 10th after the 2nd or 3rd week. I always thought myself that I would make the finals but would also have no chance of winning, but I had a shot in the end. This year is going to be much tougher because of how open the rostering is. Unfortunately I have waited until the last minute to even get started on it!

Call me crazy, uptight, mean-spirited, that I need to lighten up, or whatever else you want...but for everyone who is posting a "helpful" post to those who have questions, comments, etc. regarding the contest, I ask: do you really want to win $35,000 or not?

I would not help anyone with anything in this contest. Not last years winning lineup, not roster issues, scoring issues or whatever. I would not comment on proposed teams, or value, or whether or not the rules are this or that. My lips (and posts) are sealed....mums the word.

This is $35,000 CONTEST people. Do your homework, keep things to yourself, and respect the concept of a contest.

I wouldn't worry about it. You are probably out week 3. :football: :football:

Submitted 1 the day it went live, and hadn't looked at it until today. After about 10 changes I now have $32 spent on QB's, $103 on RB's, $84 on WR's, $20 on TE's, $2 on PK's, $8 on TD.

Probably will change many more times before I'm done for good.
