Subway Chicken not so much chicken? (1 Viewer)

Subway's results were such an outlier that the team decided to test them again, biopsying five new oven roasted chicken pieces, and five new orders of chicken strips.

Those results were averaged: the oven roasted chicken scored 53.6 per cent chicken DNA, and the chicken strips were found to have just 42.8 per cent chicken DNA.  The majority of the remaining DNA? Soy.
and in a shocking reply...

Subway said in a statement that it disagrees with the test results.

"Our recipe calls for one per cent or less of soy protein in our chicken products."

"We will look into this again with our supplier to ensure that the chicken is meeting the high standard we set for all of our menu items and ingredients."

It's been years since I had Subway but I'll happily take a meatball sub and a few of their chocolate chip cookies, no matter what's really in them.

The chicken is always gross looking at Subway.  I don't eat there often, but when I do, I never get anything with chicken.

This is another reason why you go to a real deli (preferably Italian).  They're out there, they're better and they take just as long to make your sandwich.  Cant get a gabagool at no Subway.

Oh and their spokesperson ####s kids

One of the greatest tricks ever pulled was Subway convincing people that what they sell is healthy. Place is gross. Read some of those I work at Subway AMA's on reddit.

I just ate the leftovers of my daughter's "chicken breast" sub.   I personally don't even care if its 50% soy.  Chicken breast is pretty tasteless to begin with.

I don't go there often, but I have noticed it is one of those places where the piece of meat is small and the bread is massive.  You can literally take three normal size bites of a sub before you even get to the meat.

Also worked at subway for 4 years (Though not anymore)

If the store you go to is a relatively quiet one, probably best to avoid the meatballs. I've worked in 4 different stores, not one of them stuck to the rule of keeping meatballs out for a maximum of 4 hours and NEVER reheating them. They go out in the morning, back in the fridge at night, and back out the next day.

Same with any unpopular products though. Steak can sometimes be a poor seller and as one of the more expensive meats, we were encouraged to not throw it out. Also we always knew when the health inspector was due (or the vague period they'd be coming) and that was the only time we'd stick to the rules. I was one of the few people there that actually cleaned things properly.

tl;dr probably best to just avoid subway altogether. 90% of the staff don't give a ####.

Oh, and a fun extra: My manager HATED me because I "told him how to do his job" when he'd half #### the cleaning or just straight up get it wrong (using dangerous chemicals around food). But in the end he was caught shooting up in the toilets and then broke into the store one night and stole all of the money in the safe so... Not the best kind of person.

I've eaten so many of those 6 dollar fake steak and cheese sammys the last few weeks. They are great with the right stuff on them.

I didn't think they tried to hide it.  When they came out with that Rotisserie chicken stuff I asked them why anyone would order that instead of the chicken breast which is like 10x as much meat.  They said because the Rotisserie is actually chicken and the "chicken breast" is a little chicken mixed with a bunch of other stuff.

Soy?  Better than what I expected. I figured I was going to read it was mostly fertilizer and dead skin cells.

Seriously, one fat perv lost some weight on their subs and people think it's good for you. More likely to make you watch kiddie porn than lose weight.

Subway chicken is what Nikki Minaj puts in her butt to make it look bigger.  Pretty much 90% gelatin, 8% chicken, 2% turtle balls.

Homer J Simpson likes this
:lmao:

Also not the level of service you get at a deli: Someone putting the exact amount of chicken the drug dealer scale from Corporate dictated you should receive.

I like an Italian BMT on wheat.  Cheddar. Lettuce, cucumbers, extra pickles, light onions, and some salt and pepper.  That's good stuff.

The Sweet onion Chicken Teriaki is delicious. Who cares if the chicken is 30-40% soy?

I'm shocked

Shocked that there's THAT much chicken in their chicken. That crap looks like bleached McRib material.

Haven't had Subway in 25 years.  Believe that was when they changed everything to pre-portioned on wax paper.

Soooooo many better sandwich places everywhere you turn.

LOL

Subway is a fast food chain.  What do you expect?  Their competition is McDonald's and Arby's.  Plan accordingly.

If you do a search you will find posts from me talking about the quality of "turkey" served a Subway.   I won't go into the details again but a friend of mine is a rep for a company that used to supply meat to Subway.   At the time they were buying his cheapest grade of turkey and wanted something cheaper.  My friend told them that they couldn't sell a lesser grade and still call it turkey.

Subway ended up finding a different source that could supply a cheaper grade of "turkey".

My buddy told me this story about 7-8 years ago and I have not been back to a Subway since.  The meats they are serving is absolute junk.  It won't make you sick and it might even taste okay, but it is not bueno.
