Super Bowl Hangover continues (1 Viewer)

This is old news , but the dynasty may be done. I actually like the parity in the NFL even though my team got whipped by an inspiring Seahawks team.

2005 Champ Steelers go 8-8 in 2006 and miss playoffs.

2006 Champ Colts go 13-3 in 2007 and are one and done in 2007.

2007 Champ Giants go 12-4 and are one and done in 2008.

2008 Champ Steelers go 9-7 and miss playoffs in 2009.

2009 Champ Saints go 11-5 and are one and done in 2010.

Teams don't disappear, but a clear drop-off except for maybe the Giants and of course the 2006 Colts who I did not list.

Thoughts.

Anyone else question the Saints unSaint like play calling? Horrible calls on the fourth down play, and I was shocked at the two point conversion play call. Brees is a master throwing from the goal line.

There's no dynasty yet, but I disagree that the window's closed on this team. As long as the Saints have Brees, they're in possession of the most important piece of the puzzle. Aside from Brees, it's not like the Saints have to find 10 new starters or something. They were only (a) better health and (b) a bellcow RB from making another deep run this year.

who dat who dat going to beat the saints, the 7-9 Seahawks,

Saints playoff record outside the dome 0 for nothing.

great job Hawks

I guess it's a nice story and all.

But realistically - a small market team with no recognizable stars, with little chance to advance much further in the playoffs just beat an injury ridden and one dimensional superbowl hangover ridden saints team that people actually cared about. Hooray for football.

payton called a pretty terrible game most of the year, i think. this game was just more important than most.

:) This isn't the kind of game that will ever be known as some all-time great upset or something.

As intoxicated as i am right now, it's rewarding to see that i can still get a coherent point across.

I wouldn't say that we lost because of the offense, but how do you put the game in the hands of Deshawn Wynn when you have loads of offensive playmakers??? If you're going to lose, you want to lose with the ball in the hands of Brees.

I agree, this team still went 11-5 with all of the distractions, shortened off-season, people gunning for them and injuries that were concentrated in a couple of areas (RBs and DBs).

Next year someone else will have the Superbowl hangover and the Saints can get back to the business of solid football. So the Saints didnt make history, Im still proud of what they have accomplished this year even in spite of the injuries. No sour grapes here.
