*** Super BOWL XL Game Thread *** (1 Viewer)

First off I am not a fan of either of these teams. I was hoping for a great game that I could enjoy watching with my family but it just hasn't happened. Further, I do not mean to come across as a whiner but I just cannot believe what I'm seeing tonight.

With all do respect to all Steeler fans, this is the worst Super Bowl I've ever seen. No way should Pitts have 21 points. No way should Seattle only have 10. I am usually the first to defend the refs because they just can't win no matter what they do. But in this case I cannot defend the refs calls. This is just unbelievable. I have never seen the refs "appear" to be for a team until now. Clearly they are in favor of the Steelers because the Seahawks can't catch a break.

Of all the big plays, only Pitts 75 yard run was a play that Steelers earned. The others were by the hand of the refs. The refs have also manged to keep the Hawks out of end zone twice.

So again, I think this is the most embarrassing game I have ever witnessed and while the Steeler fans cannot control what's going on, I wouldn't be too proud if I were you guys. If I were a Steeler fan I would be embarrassed to take credit for this win.

As for the Seahawk fans, what can I say. They have had this game systematically taken away from them in spite of their best efforts. The Seahawks have dominated this game from the beginning but the refs are the great equalizer tonight.

So Steeler fans, feel free to bash me all you want as I'm sure you will anyway. But clearly inside you know you have not won this came. You may be awarded the trophy but you did not win it. You were handed this game. It's a very sad day in the NFL.

A sad day for the NFL.

Let's put it this way -- is there any objective fan (non-Pitt and non-Seattle) who feels the officiating hasn't been horrible and a decisive factor in this game?

I really doubt it.

We would not bash you if you actually sustanciated any of you're remarks. The only thing you have offered is opinion and of course Steelers fans have those as well. Feel free to tell us why the deliberate push of in the endzone directly in front of the ref should have been let go by the refs. Feel free to tell us why the call on the field that clearly could have gone both ways and was totaly inconclusive even upon review should have been overturned. Feel free to tell us how the Int by Hassy was the refs fault when he overthrew the ball buy 8 yds. Feel free do say anything that substanciates you're claim. I will listen. :D

What about Jerramy Stevens fumble that wasn't called in the first quarter? He caught the ball, put both feet down, twisted and then had the bar jarred loose by the Crazy Samoan.

That was CLEARLY a fumble, but the refs blew the whistle so fast, Pitt never tried to recover the fumble.
Actually - he did not get his 2nd foot down once he gaiend possession.
Caught the ball, spun with both feet, ball got popped loose. I've seen if six times now - slow mo - super slow mo. Nice try though.

:hey: Horrible? Pretty much.

Decisive? Maybe, maybe not. It's still an 11 point game. I could see the Big Ben TD either way. So, I don't think it necessarily *decided* the game.

I have no money on the game and don't care for either team. I don't see a "fix", just a series of mistakes that ALL benefitted the Stillers.

And on Ben's TD, if you watched the replay, it's pretty clear that the end of the ball tucked by Ben's elbow may have crossed the plane before he was hit. It might not have, but it was too close to be overturned.

Worst officiated game ever. But we've seen this all playoffs long. What an absolute joke.

I'm just hoping Holmgren or someone goes off in post-game, but they probably won't.

These officials plain and simply stole the game from Seattle.

Bill Leavy is the only possible MVP candidate on Pittsburgh.

My overall feeling after tongiht:

I want another one

And our WRs are STILL A ####### LIABILITY

take a way the big ben TD, and you're still left with 14 points the refs took away from SEA; besides a 21 point swing, nope, they weren't decisive at all.....

I assummed you watched the game. If I have to replay it for you then clearly you disagree and it would be waste of time anyway. I'm not really interested in debating it with you because it is what it is, my opinion, not fact. Take it for no more than it and let it go because no one can do anything about it anyway. That the way it goes. I just feel really bad for the Seahawks because they didn't have a level playing field tonight. It's not the Steelers fault. But they sure didn't deserve it.

Jackson extended his right arm and pushed off directly in front of the ref. That's called every time, especially when his arm is fully extended like that. DJax should've scored on that play, because he didn't need to push off at all.

And on Ben's TD, if you watched the replay, it's pretty clear that the end of the ball tucked by Ben's elbow may have crossed the plane before he was hit. It might not have, but it was too close to be overturned.

They got the fumble call correct. Hasselbeck's elbow and forearm were down anyways.
I get it, really, you’re a Steelers fan. But, seriously, even the Steelers' fans here with me can admit that this is horribly officiated game.edit - spelling

I have no rooting interest for either team - but yeah, Seattle got the short end here. I mean c'mon, every big play Seattle made was "holding"? Where was the hold when Big Ben got the critical 1st down on that draw? The replay had the Pitt player draped on the hawks guy...

Shame - this game could and should have been closer, thus more exciiting.

I'm a Cowboy fan since the '70's. Good try. Waaaah

Well you have enough issues being a Cowgirl fan... ;)

Good officiated game until the holding call, which ultimately could of determined the game.

I don't see why people are complaining about the Big Ben TD. Watch again, the ball hits the outer edge of the goalline (all that's required) before he tucks it back in.

I'm finding it difficult to believe you weren't born in the 90's

The class level in here leaves something to be desired. The above is my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. Disagree? Fine with me. Treating other human beings like this over a football game? That's what the shame is.

:lmao: :lmao: :bye:

I have no stake whatsoever in this game, but I finally came to FBG after the "low block" call on Hasselbeck because I finally got fed up watching the succession of terrible calls and had to vent. I still can't believe they flagged a QB for tackling a guy after an INT. Didn't Ben go low on Nick Harper in Indy and become an instant Pittsburgh legend?

I agree that there's no "fix." But it's clear that this game was taken out of Seattle's hands to settle and placed squarely in the refs'.

I have watched it 10 times. And I do not see him get the ball touching the line on any of the times. I think that one was to close to call. But I think that call does not matter as the Steelers probably would of went for it on 4th down.

I'm not sure either.. but Seattle hasn't really played well at all. Regardless of what happened in the officiating, the FWP run and the Randle El pass td speak volumes. The Stillers whooped that ###.Game over.

Then why do you keep bringing it up? BTW, I agree as I stated a long time ago.

They should play for overtime -- John Madden, Super Bowl 36.

They should go for a Field Goal -- John Madden, Super Bowl 40.

The Big Ben TD was clearly the correct call. They showed the tip of the ball breaking the plane of the goal line. That's all that is required. Non-issue.

This has to be one of the worst Officiated games I've seen in my life.
Agreed, I vote to give the MVP to the officials.Titans fan here all I wanted to see was a good game. Started that way, looked like Seattle came to play.... this reeked but bad IMO

400 yards offense, 2 INTs and stopping the homecoming king in Jerome Bettis and the next Tom Brady in Big Ben.. yeah Seattle sucked...about those ref calls now..... hmmm

Unless you have seen a shot that the rest of America has been denied, I'm gonna have to call :bs: .

Because everyone else keeps bringing it up.But anyways Pitt Fans. A Super Bowl Win is a Win.

Well, the better team won, IMO. They made the big plays and Seattle didn't.

But it was all most disappointing, however. I'm bummed.

Congrats to Sea on a great season.

Steelers are now NFL Champions again. Let the riots in Pitt begin.
