Suprise Teams that will make the playoffs (1 Viewer)

We've seen worst to first stories every year and we've seen teams that make the playoffs one year, miss it the next. Either way, the playoffs usually have about 4 or 5 new teams every season. So choose those teams.

My guess:

NY Giants Not suprising enough

Arizona Cardinals

Cleveland Browns

Houston Texans

The NFC West is wide open...I wouldn't be surprise if any of the 4 teams made the playoffs or went 5-11.

AFC West - Chiefs or SD

NFC West - AZ or Stl

I think it will be a surprise to most if two teams from either or both of those divisions make the playoffs.

Everyone should probably agree on a list of surprise teams to pick from.. :lmao:

Teams that didn't make it last season that I think have a chance.

Texans

Chargers

Giants

Cowboys

Lions

Buccaneers

Rams

Cardinals

Texans (May have their shot at the division if Manning has health issues throughout the season.)Chargers (They easily could but wouldn't surprise many if they did.)Giants (I personally don't see this one coming to pass that division is pretty tough.)Cowboys (They have the talent but division is tough.)Lions (I'm a Lions fan and I hope they can find a way in but they could be in the toughest division in football.)Buccaneers (I think they have a chance but they really haven't done much to get better.)Rams (I think they will make it but who knows with that division? I have them as the preseason favorite in that division)Cardinals (I think this will all depend on Kolb. If he comes in a lights it up then they could easily win the division. That is a pretty up for grabs division.)

Buffalo Bills.

Seemingly every year, a 4/5 win team from the previous season, comes out of nowhere to post a decent record and squeak into the playoffs.

Bills have a top 20 RB, top 20 WR, and Fitzpatrick - once he took over last season, he put up some outstanding numbers..

well, outstanding for the Bills I mean..

I guess I just have a different idea of what a "surprise" would be in the NFL. There's so much parity and turnover, few teams would shock me if they made the playoffs. Like, if Buffalo made the playoffs this year, I'd be surprised. But going into a new season there are usually only 4-5 teams I feel that way about. Most teams have a realistic chance.

Teams that would really, really surprise me if they made the playoffs:

Buffalo

Cleveland

Oakland

Carolina

Washington

Teams that would really surprise me if they made the playoffs:

Miami

Cincinnati

Jacksonville

Tennessee

Denver

Detroit

Tampa Bay

St Louis

Seattle

Dallas

Minnesota

I predict these teams to be the bottom 2 in each of their respective divisions.

Of these, I think the teams that have the best chance to surprise:

Cincinnati -- if Palmer comes back and plays well (unlikely) and the O is respectable. They have a good young D still.

Denver -- If Orton lights it up and Dumervil's return from injury bolsters the D.

Detroit -- If all the pieces gel

Tampa -- If their D plays above its potential and the O doesn't regress

St Louis -- If their D can bend but not break and their O takes a couple steps forward

Seattle -- If they get decent QB play and their D steps up

Dallas -- If their O line improves

Minnesota -- If they can overcome question marks at QB, LT, and WR

If I had to pick 3 that I would bet on to do it:

Dallas (wildcard), Seattle (win division), Minnesota (wild card)

No team from the NFC/AFC west should even be in the conversation IMO.

Any team has a shot at 8-9 wins to take the division.

I am going to say my surprise team is CLEVELAND BROWNS

-They are in a tough division with PIT/BAL so generally no one will ever pick them to finish 1-2 this year.

-I think Holmgren knows what he is doing, and this year we will have the best WR year since Braylon Edwards several years ago.

-While I don't love Hillis, He will control the clock, and grind down D's

-Hardesty will change up the running game anticipation

-Colt is not a world setter but if he minimizes his mistakes, and gets Little the ball a few times early on, he will open up the O

-They have an above average OLine, the makings are there for Colt to have a 16TD/9INT type season with a sound running game, and ball security.

-Finally....the schedule.

CIN

@IND

MIA

TEN

BYE

They could go into their BYE at 3-1, with 3 winnable home games.

Momentum is there, confidence builds

@OAK

SEA

@SF

@HOU

STL

JAC

@CIN

up to this point, I don't really see any game that they CAN NOT win.

I can potentially see 8-3 at this point.

Then the true tests will come, but I figure if they can squeak out a 2-3 record here, they will be at 10-6.

BLT

@PIT

@ARZ

@BLT

PIT

Those 3 road games can destroy their season, but there also is a possibility BLT or PIT could be in rest mode week 16/17.

This is my super surprise team right here. No one would see it coming. I went a step further and said they win the division. A lot has to happen for that but I think it can.
