Survivor Pool discussion & strategy for week 10 (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
I've had the Eagles penciled into this spot for the past few weeks. The fact that they're coming off a Monday night game was slightly concerning, but that got offset by the fact that they just lost to the Bears. That could not have set up any better, and they are still at home -- no travel involved. I can honestly see 75% of people on Philly this week.

San Diego and Baltimore should also be considered. I'm assuming that most folks have used the Packers already.

==========================

Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers

New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons

Tennessee Titans at Carolina Panthers

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals

St. Louis Rams at Cleveland Browns

Buffalo Bills at Dallas Cowboys

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

Washington Redskins at Miami Dolphins

Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles

Houston Texans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baltimore Ravens at Seattle Seahawks

N.Y. Giants at San Francisco 49ers

New England Patriots at N.Y. Jets

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

This looks like it's going to be a pretty tough week. The only 2 teams that look safe to win are Philly and the Packers, and maybe San Diego. Trying to stay away from divisional games makes me eerie of San Diego, and also the Packers some as well, especially with the Vikings coming off a bye week. Still, hard to imagine the Packers losing a home Monday night game. As for the Eagles, my worry is they're coming off a short week and a pretty tough loss, and the Cards might be amped after there crazy victory last week.

Hard to decide between taking the Eagles or Packers at this point.

Did the Eagles lose a corner or a safety tonight? I had company and I wasn't paying attention.
both...kinda.Nate Allen left the game and didn't come back because of a concussionAssante Samuel pulled his groin and was out for a series or 2 but eventually returned...dunno if it'll cause missed time next week though.

agreed I had Eagles down all along for Week 10, and the loss last night makes it even better. take another step and say even more favorable with Arizona win last week (team with too many losses in a row makes me nervous). i still have GB and other guy doesn't, so have them down for Week 14 home vs Raiders (or maybe Week 11 home vs TB, although few options in Week 11 - ATLANTA home vs TN, SF home vs Arizona, DETROIT home vs Carolina). wouldn't want to use any later then Week 14 when they potentialyl start resting guys for playoffs.

i just rethought whole thing and think i am going to go with Packers. i watched every minute of Eagle game last night and just too much not to like. by no means do i think they lose, but gun to head you have to go with Pack on Monday night football.

I had the Pack slotted here. Philly may be needed in Week 17 vs. Washington if they still have something to play for.

I am leaning Bal or Philly. Will probably go Philly if Kolb does not play. No way am I touching GB on a Monday Night divisional game. I am a Vikings fan, but NFC north games are way too unpredictable for me to take GB.

not sure i understand why Kolb out makes Eagles more of a favorable play, they lost what 5 in row with him, and won last week with Skelton. no turnovers, mobile in pocket, did what he had to. Kolb has been horrific and back in Philly not 100% healthy, he would be worse.

I'm still torn (lot of money, down to me and one other guy) and need to submit today. Snell had great point regarding division game, but same can be said about NFC East games. i just look at how many mistakes Vick is making, turnovers, etc, not to mention possibility of injury any given play, and have to lean Packers.

Likely to roll with Philly, as I see more value down the road with GB plus the typical avoidance of a divisional game. Really have to think they will lay a pounding on ARZ, as they have zero margin for error. Plus, even though ARZ won last week, it was pulling a rabbit out of the hat at home vs. STL. Not exactly a signature win.

Down to 209 left in a pool that initially started with over 2400, so keeping my fingers crossed.

I also want to roll with Philly but am nervous about them as they are sporadic and on short rest. I have GB left so I'm leaning towards them. The only thing that scares me with GB is it's divisional and a prime time national game. It is in GB so that makes me feel better, but Ponder played alright last game against GB and it was in question late.

Question about my situation. Our smaller money pool of friends allows 2 strikes. There's about 10 people left with one strike and I am the lone guy with 0 strikes so I have a big advantage right now. Do you think it's wiser to save the Pack and roll with Philly or take the "surer" bet in GB and keep my slate clean? I am still inclined to roll with GB I think even with their future value..

Similar boat here...

I have GB left but divisional game on Monday scares me. But it scares me less than picking the Eagles (and I'm an Eagles fan). I'd really like to roll with Philly and use GB later on but I'm not sure I can convince myself. may just roll with GB and root against the Eagles.

I'm not too sure about Bal on the road in Seattle either. Seattle is traditionally tough at home, has already had a huge upset and Bal has already lost to at least one bad team this year and are coming of a big division win.

For those on Philly, any qualms with DeSean out? Does it cause further fissures in the team or provide a rallying point? For one week, I am hoping for the latter.
Doesn't seem like he's been a huge part of the offense anyway. I took PHI with confidence. (As did 66% of my pool -- :( )
Did the same (along w/ 75% in my pool. Let's hope for low attrition this week:))

I think the Eagles will be OK, finding a WR to replace a WR who drops passes and gives minimal effort out there shouldn't be too difficult.

not rubbing it in, just want to thank you guys who kept this week to week thread going, great to hear all views. i will win my 80 man pool with a Packer victory tonight, it's a good hunk of money (to me anyway). Giants and Eagles single handedly knocked out 75% of all pools. NFC East is brutal.

still have one other online pool (sports book review) which was free to join and has decent prizes or gift cards for $250.

early leans next week are ATLANTA vs TN and Detroit vs Carolina. Atlanta seems to be the play off a brutal loss, at home vs mediocre Tenn team. Stafford's broken finger is scaring me little bit after yesterday performance, no reason to take them again until he shows he is healthy. obviously bothering him.
