Tablets - why so thin? (1 Viewer)

Today apple announced the next iPad Air. It will be only 5 mm thick

What is the big appeal of constantly going thinner and thinner?

It seems like tablets are already thin enought.

What is the appeal? Is it just an engineer's version of a #### measuring contest or is there really consumer demand for even thinner devices?

lighter?

Apple's technology is inferior so they change the dimensions so the sheep will buy the latest and greatest.

I don't understand why Apple seems to have dropped the 32g version of their devices; if they needed to lose a level, why not get rid of the 16g? Who doesn't want more space?

I was thinking of finagling a return of the mini I bought 6 weeks ago from Costco and upgrading, but I can't do it for 64g.

I agree about dropping the 16 but they are selling the 64 for the price of the previous 32

I'm not sure why you're questioning this?

Apple knows what you want.

Absolutely

could post a separate thread, but what's the best tablet to get for younger kids? Something like the Muffin Kinder or Samsung Galaxy tab 3 for kids.

We'd want a good supply of free aps and long battery life (for travel).
