Tactical approach to trading (1 Viewer)

I dont know about you guys but my favorite thing about fantasy football is trading.

this year, i pulled off one of the best trades i have ever planned. It started on draft day. I really wanted Roddy White but since i had the first pick overall, i wasnt going to pick him first. He was gone by the 11th pick. This is when my plan started.

I picked up dez Bryant in the 6th round. Im not a fan of dez white. He is not consistent enough for me. The owner of Roddie White is the biggest cowboy fan i know. I picked him up just to trade him when he has a big game.

Luckily, all the chips fell in place. Roddy had a bad week and dez had some great catches. That was my window. Right after the game...i sent him a txt that read " roddy white for dez and Stephen jackson"...he replied "done deal".

Now he may sound like i got robbed but i needed to cloud his thinking with a 2 player offer. I dont trust sjax legs.

Share your stories of shrewd and well executed trading.

Dez White did have that one mediocre year for the Bears, but since he has been out of the league since 2005, I would say you made a great trade. ;-)

That was a good trade for you. Marty Booker is the guy to have in Chicago & I don't think Dez White has the upside of David Terrell.

To the real point of the thread, I saw a very good example of this today. I saw a guy trade Ryan Fitzpatrick for a 2012 1st rounder. To me that is truly maximizing value. Fitz may end up being worth more, but it is hard to picture it.

I got Larry Fitzgerald last night for Harvin and Woodhead in a 10 team PPR.

This is what I told another guy in the league who thought it was an unfair deal.

"Actually Woodhead is a lot more valuable than you think in this kind of league. This is a league where you get one point per reception!!!!

Woodhead had 34 receptions and 379 receiving yards in 3/4 of a season last year. that alone is like 80 pts, which comes to about 100 pts for the whole year!

In addition he had 547 rushing yards and 6 TDs total in again 3/4 of a season or 14 games. that's another 90 pts right there...

He's projected to get 200 pts this year by Yahoo, while Larry FItz is projected to get 215 for the rest of the season.

In Addition I am gave him Pervy Harvin, who is a solid WR2 Lets not forget that he's the #1 Wr on his team. ( http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/min/depthchart ), In addition the scoring system in this league he gets 6 pts for Ret TDs as well. In case you missed it, he already returned the opening kick 103 yards for a touchdown."
How do you like them apples!?

If you are playing with other adults, they must find you very annoying. If you are playing with 10 year olds, they probably just laugh at you and think you are funny.

You not only schooled the other owner in the trade, you are horrible at math!

ROFLMAO

It's one thing to fleece a guy. We've all been there. There's no need to rub it in though.

Plus, nobody asked why you would trade away such a sure thing for just Fitzgerald? If you have a pitch like that be sure to have a "why would you do it then" response. I'm sure it is just as ridiculous as the initial argument. Nice move.

When I trade I try to make my players bye weeks line up with when I'm playing that team, so the player they get is on their bench. Works out quite nicely. If you pull off a couple of these trades, you can flatten out your points against. atleast that's what I keep telling myself
