As a Tatum owner I hope this happens. Even though there's the risk of Mike Bell stepping in and taking the starting job for good with another strong game I think the only way for Tatum Bell to salvage any fantasy value the rest of the season is to try and get healthy - and that means resting his injured feet. Even if he got healthy and returned to his change-of-pace role at least he would have RB3 value. That's better than him trying to play and not giving the injuries any time to heal and having no value at all.FWIW, John Clayton just said on ESPN that he would not be surprised if Tatum Bell did not play at all on sunday

Well I think he may have gotten the impression you would'nt play from your comments.Broncos | T. Bell practices Friday, unsure how much he will playFri, 3 Nov 2006 15:59:28 -0800Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Denver Broncos RB Tatum Bell (toe) practiced Friday, Nov. 3, although he is unsure how much he will play in Week 9, as he is still not 100 percent.<---------------------- Gamer

Tatum Bell (probable, toe) practiced without limits all week.Owners of Mike Bell are left in a quandary if they're looking to use him against Pittsburgh: 1. It's a tough matchup. 2. Tatum still has a good chance to start. Avoiding the situation is probably the best move
:corrected:I agree with that assessment. I am pretty sure Shanahan will run, run, run - especially since I don't believe that Pittsburgh will have much success against the Broncos' D. As long as the score stays low, Shanahan will concentrate on the running game, but will use it to set up the pass.I think we're all more or less in agreement here; that Mike Bell won't put up stellar numbers against the Ravens Steelers, and is likely not a great start this week.
I still think he's good for a RB2, but you guys have me 2nd guessing that he'll be a top 15 back this week. I'll downgrade him to RB17 for the week, a mid-range RB2, and an upgrade for teams that have to start guys like Jordan and McGahee.
I just don't see the Broncos turning away from the running game despite the stiffness of the Ravens Steelers on that front and their lack of stiffness in the secondary. They'll try to make Plummer throw the ball, but Denver will still likely pound the rock to avoid putting the load on Plummer's shoulders.
I'm still down for this bet if anybody's game.Agree. I'm surprised by the consensus out there that Tatum really is "probable". We all know the big concern with him to begin with, is durability. Now, he's got turf-toe in not one, but both feet? When has that not been a disaster? He tells the coaches at half he's having problems. They put Mike Bell in, who explodes. But since TinkerBell is "probable" people are believing Shanahan is going to push a guy that was falling down because he couldn't cut? I don't care how mild it might be, why play him?On top of that, Mike Bell was almost the starter two short months ago anyway. Shanny doesn't care who he plugs in there. He'd rather Tatum got better. What the hell am I missing here?I think Mike Bell isn't a bad start at all this week (and maybe this week alone), unless it comes out that tatum has made a fantastic recovery and will see the bulk of the carries.
It's obviously speculation in the Denver RB situation, but the fact of the matter is that Shanny has one Rb who played well last week, is un-injured, and knows the offense well. He has another back that is dinged and could be more useful if fully healthy. I think the obvious choice here is to give the bulk of the carries to the healthy back.
I'd probably put Mike Bell in the top 12 or top 10 RBs this week.
I'd bet Cecil Sapp gets more touches than Tatum Bell this week.
It's supposed to be excellent football weather in Pgh this weekend. 50 degress and partly cloudy, so depending on the run game won't be weather related.FWIW: I'm benching TBell for Droughns against a tough SD defense and Galloway in the flex. I'm not expecting much out of TBell this week. Maybe 30 RuReYds and 0TD. I think this week will see a lot of Mike Bell.:corrected:I agree with that assessment. He needs Plummer to play well to win the game. Weather could be a factor, too, but I don't really know what the weather's supposed to be like in Pitt.
I think RB 12-17 is about the right range for the projections we gave - that .5 TD will be the difference - if he gets a short TD plunge (and obviously if he gets multiple TDs) he could be great. I would definitely consider him for my starting lineup if I owned him.
We should all be so lucky as to have this option. More than likely, if you're keeping a close eye on the situation, you need one of these guys as a starter.Reports saying Mike Bell is expected to start. From RotoWorld:
Mike Bell is expected to get the majority of the carries in Week 9. The Rocky Mountain News reports Mike is expected to start.
Tatum Bell (probable, turf toe) will likely play a limited role and Cedric Cobbs could be "up," and see some work in the running game. Because Pittsburgh's staunch run defense will finally be at full strength, we'd avoid using any Broncos ball carriers on Sunday.

Maybe yes, maybe no - both Bells were selected in the RB3 range, so there's a decent chance neither was crucial.I've been keeping an eye on this like a hawk b/c TBell passed RBush into my RB2 spot in week 2. However, I picked up M J-D a while back and he's been on my bench getting nearly as many FPs per game as TBell. We should all be so lucky as to have this option. i am in the same situation. i have both bells and drew as my rb2 behind lt. i am leaning toward drew at this point since they are playing tennessee and are bound to run the crap out of he ball. but if tatum is shut down for the week i might have to consider starting mikeMaybe yes, maybe no - both Bells were selected in the RB3 range, so there's a decent chance neither was crucial.I've been keeping an eye on this like a hawk b/c TBell passed RBush into my RB2 spot in week 2. I'm not too worried yet - as long as TBell gets back on the field 100 percent healthy this season (rather than having to shut it down like Chris Brown did a couple years back), I think he will be a solid RB2.
Denver's got the 4th best SOS for RBs in the last four weeks of the season - 20.2, behind Miami, Minnesota and Oakland. Not a bad week 12 and 13, either:
@KC Sea @SD @Ari Cin SF
SD is obviously tough, and in the first week of th eplayoffs no less, but everything else is sweet - KC is close to the league average of FPs given up to RBs, but the rest of those teams are a HEALTHY margin above the league average in FPs against.
I am still hopeful that TBell will help me win the Super Bowl, but I am not as confident he will be there for me during the next few crucial three-four weeks - playoff run, baybee. I want to win my division with a good enough record to get a first round bye.
Thats where I'm standing as wellFWIW: I'm benching TBell for Droughns against a tough SD defense
This is the reason I'd wish they would just shut him down for a week, maybe two.I need him and/or Alexander to get completely healthy or I'm going to sink like the titanic.I'm not too worried yet - as long as TBell gets back on the field 100 percent healthy this season (rather than having to shut it down like Chris Brown did a couple years back)
It was really annoying watching CBrown run for near 100 yards in the first half and then go off to the locker room for the rest of the game.
last year or th eyear before - I think the year before. It was really annoying watching CBrown run for near 100 yards in the first half and then go off to the locker room for the rest of the game.![]()
If that's the prognosis for Bell the rest of this season I'd take that without complaint. It sure beats how bad he was in Week 8 or not playing in Week 9.It was really annoying watching CBrown run for near 100 yards in the first half and then go off to the locker room for the rest of the game.
I'd agree with that. The Steelers are obviously a much better run defense than the Colts but I thought Mike Bell looked pretty bad for the most part. There was no burst and he looked a step or two slow hitting the hole (what holes there were) on nearly every carry. He had one good play on the long screen pass but that was about it.A little more on Tatum with a quote herebest case scenario for TBell owners - MBell got stuffed running the ball and he ran a lot (17 carries, 28 yards, no TDs)
If TBell can come back next week and run well, he is he will not lose the team's starting role this year due to injury (IOW, if he has to sit in the future, he gets his job back - MBewll = b/u RB not a potential starting RB)
