No.Ashem said:With Lewan out for the year, is there any concern that Smith might have to stay in to help block?
Jonnu is also losing the target battle with Davis re-emerging, Brown starting to see more consistent targets, Firkser/Pruitt getting looks, etc.Jonnu Smith caught 2-of-2 targets for 29 yards in the Titans' Week 8 loss to the Bengals.
Smith looked healthy today, but his production has not been the same since first injuring his ankle in Week 6. He has four catches for 51 yards in three games since. He was out-targeted and out-gained by Anthony Firkser this afternoon. Something is going to have to give, and soon, for Smith to maintain TE1 benefit of the doubt. The Bears' tough defense is on deck for Week 9.

I think that is a terrible idea.kyoun1e said:Curious where Jonnu Smith owners would rank A. Hooper...ahead or behind Smith rest of season?
Hooper sitting on waivers due to his sickness and bye week. Tempted to drop Jonnu for Hooper...especially now with Odell gone over in CLE.
And why would that be?I think that is a terrible idea.
Well maybe you are right that Smith will not be part of the passing game for the Titans much going forward. And why would that be?
J. Smith wasn't targeted until halfway through the 4th quarter. Two total targets. Play action on the 1 for a TD totally bailed him out.
He's not exactly a slam dunk these days.
Grabbed A. Hooper this morning in waivers and will be starting him over Jonnu.Didn't drop him, but starting Dallas Goedert over him this week.
Ugh forgot he plays Thursday. I'd hate for him to put up a dud and then sit there all week locked in my roster.Grabbed A. Hooper this morning in waivers and will be starting him over Jonnu.
Don't like the upcoming schedule for TN. Indy, @BALT, @Indy.
If push comes to shove come tmrw, I may drop him just prior to the Thursday night game.
Exactly.Ugh forgot he plays Thursday. I'd hate for him to put up a dud and then sit there all week locked in my roster.
Jonnu Smith caught 2-of-6 targets for 14 yards in the Titans' Week 10 loss to the Colts.
Smith saved his night with a one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter. He has 40-or-fewer yards in 7-of-9 games, however, but seven touchdowns on the year have kept Smith in the TE1 conversation. The six targets tonight were actually Smith's most in the last five games. Smith's floor is super low in this low-volume passing attack ahead of a Week 11 date with the Ravens.

Smith and Brown are elite now (as far as defenses are concerned) and Smith has as much trouble dealing with the best as Brown does.Well maybe you are right that Smith will not be part of the passing game for the Titans much going forward.
Bri gives one reason for Smiths diminished opportunity recently because of injury to Pruitt and their other blocking TE being inactive for the game.
I think another reason Smith isn't getting as much opportunity as a receiver is because of AJ Brown being healthy now. Thats not likely to change.
Bryant and Njoku have been productive in Hoopers absence so I think he has competition for looks at his own position and I don't know if the same opportunity is going to be there for him when he does as the other TE have been ok as well.
If Hooper does return to 5 targets per game and Smith is only getting 2 targets per game then maybe you are right to make the move and its not such a terrible idea. I just think Smith is a better player than Hooper is and I would feel more comfortable starting Smith than Hooper, even though Smith hasn't done much lately.
Jonnu Smith was not targeted in the Titans' Week 12 win over the Colts.
Inexplicably, Geoff Swaim operated as the team's top tight end against the Colts. That left Smith to block for Derrick Henry -- not the best role for fantasy purposes. Smith had been splitting pass catching duties with Anthony Firkser, but Firkser also went without a catch in Week 12. As usual, Smith will be a touchdown dependent fantasy option in Week 13 against the Browns.

If he's just like the rest of the guys then how is he droppable. Is he droppable? I mean he's just like the rest of the guys not named Kelce, Waller... You know. Meaning he's touchdown dependent and he's severely lacking targets lately.
Children Of A Lesser JonnuIf he's just like the rest of the guys then how is he droppable.
Stream and play the matchups. Drop/add.If he's just like the rest of the guys then how is he droppable.
He'll roam free throughout week 13 too.In a run first team. Less targets with Brown back and Davis emerging. He’s also blocking more due to the O line injuries. Also sharing some catches with Firkser. Battling an ankle injury. Definitely trending down and TD dependent.
I do like his playoff schedule starting with Jax and Det in weeks 14 and 15 though. Both give him a good chance at a TD.
I’m without Andrews and must win to get in this week. Do you start him over Rudolph? Hard to trust. He'll roam free throughout week 13 too.
Me starting Jonnu Smith this weekI’m without Andrews and must win to get in this week. Do you start him over Rudolph? Hard to trust.
Happened with Witten earlier in his career too. Don’t recall what year, but there were big time OL injuries that forced Witten to block more and run fewer routes, lowering his fantasy stats. In a way, the bad thing here is it worked against a strong defense. Granted they were without their DTs. Which doesn't necessarily mean they'll do it again but maybe.
It kind of reminds me of the Chiefs in 2002 (I think that was the year). Great TE, possibly the goat. Became a blocker for a while because of o-line injuries. They kept scoring, but the was one of Gonzo's worst years for FF.
Not to say jonnu is gonzo level.
There's a guy named Taysom Hi... Oh wait. That week is over, unless you don't play with your lineup then you can keep him in.Me starting Jonnu Smith this week
What I am actually preparing for
You can't trust him. But I don't think you can trust any TE not named Kelce or Waller. Just hope he is not tasked with chip blocking Myles Garrett. The other 10 healthy players on the Browns defense objectively suck, so Jonnu will win if given opportunities. It's just up to Vrabel and Arthur to decide who gets them.
Jonnu Smith (knee) remained sidelined on Thursday.
Smith has not practiced this week after failing to draw a target against the Colts last Sunday. His status is in doubt for this week's high-totaled showdown with the Browns. Living off touchdowns amidst paltry volume, Smith will be a zero-floor TE2 if he manages to get the green light.

Rotoworld:Vrabel just said he's out for Sunday.
Jonnu Smith (knee) won't play in Week 13 against the Browns.
Fantasy players should have all the confidence in the world in firing up Anthony Firkser, who accrued a team-high 21.9% target share with 29 routes on Ryan Tannehill’s 46 dropbacks in his only spot-start for Smith this year. The latter wasn't able to practice at all this week after his egg in the box score from Sunday, keeping his status for Week 14 up in the air, too.

Isn't Swain in the mix too though??Start Firkser or Rudolph?
If it matters, I start Dalvin.....go firkser to avoid spreading TDs?
True. Was Swaim playing in the game roto is referencing Firkser being great?Isn't Swain in the mix too though??
Those are my two TEs currently. Picked up Goedert weeks ago, dropped Jonnu for Tonyan this week. I remember early in the season when I thought I hit the jackpot with a late round TE.Finally dropped this stiff. Inexplicably, Tonyan and Goedert (aka paydirt - ha) were on waivers and I jumped on them both.
Jonnu Smith (knee) practiced fully Friday and will play in Week 14 against the Jaguars.
Smith, who missed last week's game against Cleveland, described his knee issue as minor and said he would return against Jacksonville. He's become a fickle fantasy producer over the past month, with Anthony Firkser eating into Smith's role as the team's primary pass catching tight end. In Week 12, Smith didn't see a single target. He's a touchdown dependent TE2 for Week 14.
