TE Oronde Gadsden II, LAC (1 Viewer)

Did anyone else see the article where they were declaring Stevo Klotz as the new TE darling for the LAC? Can't remember the source but it had to be from one of the main ones. I remember when Gadsden's dad played in the league! 🧓

Fantastic pick for the #Chargers in TE/WR/OW Oronde Gadsden.

Gadsden’s elite size, movement and ball skills made him a true weapon, especially in RZ and on third down, for Syracuse, and he showed it all @ShrineBowl week long.

Over 25% of his targets were contested in 2024, yet he had THIRTY 15+ yard catches and 900+ yard receptions. And he can do it from all alignments, as only 13% of his snaps were from the slot (others at inline TE and outside WR).

Match-up nightmare for the Chargers.

Intriguing sleeper tight end #NFLDraft2025 -- Oronde Gadsden from Syracuse

+ More career receiving yards than Tyler Warren or Colston Loveland in fewer games
+ Year 2 breakout
+ 90th percentile wingspan -- catch radius pops on tape
+ 4.61 speed (pro day)

Gadsden was only in-line on 11% of his snaps in his Year 2 breakout and weighed in at 243 pounds. Might not have the strength to play TE in the NFL. He did spend much more time as an in-line TE (44%) in 2024.

Oronde Gadsden has the frame and hands to be a red zone weapon in the NFL. Super comfortable making catches away from his body.

Oronde Gadsden also showed quick feet and an ability to beat man coverage corners as a 19 year old breakout WR at Syracuse

I'm not sure how Oronde Gadsden might transition to the NFL, but he's an interesting name to keep in mind.

Darren Waller is the upside case! Gadsden is really smooth for a player of his size

I never considered him but he’s on my radar now so I closer look is needed here. Not enough buzz but that might change soon.

Chargers TEs coach Andy Bischoff compares Oronde Gadsden II to Darren Waller

"I know it's a huge forecast, but I mean I was fortunate to coach Darren Waller," Bischoff started. "And Darren Waller was a receiver in college. And we turned him into a tight end. He's got some of those traits. It's way early. Way early. But he's twitchy. He separates, he does some really good things in the pass game. And I think as he's become more comfortable in our system in the last four or five days, I think people are beginning to see that."

I love hearing this. Got him in a TE Premium at 6.12.

Very excited for the news.
If he hits, he could hit big given that profile and the Harbaugh-Herbert effect. It's most likely not happening until 2026 or 27 but if it does, watch out.

I'd love to see it. I had noted his profile in my yearly research and decided individually he was talented enough and then I bet a bit on genetics and family acculturation to the league, to be honest. We will see if that works out.

It's why I also thought Mason Taylor would be a good pick for the Jets, and that's who they wound up selecting, which was a bit of a neat mind meld.

I haven’t had much luck with it but I like to get 1 late dynasty TE every rookie draft. Find a Gadsen or Fannin and just hope the pieces fall in place. Other than that, I target veteran TEs in dynasty. But it always seems good to be carrying one explosive boom/bust young TE.

Dissly played better than expected last year and they added Conklin whom Roman seems to think is untapped. I do not see a lot of upside this year but definitely worth keeping an eye on Gadsen for the future if he shows glimpses. I could see them using him like they did with Parham in red zone packages.

Why come in here with facts and reality to rain on the Gadsden rookie parade? 🤣

In fairness, neither Dissly nor Conklin represents an insurmountable roadblock. There is plenty of reason to be excited about Gadsden’s dynasty potential, just perhaps not for year one production. Tight End has been a notoriously difficult position for rookie production.

No rain, just sprinkles. He is not your prototypical TE, built more like a large receiver and is not up to par with his blocking. I think he will be thrown out there this year to get some mismatches with his size, I just do not see a large role for his rookie year. A tough transition for any rookie TE. I am definitely monitoring him though and think he could grow that role in the future.

Honestly I was waiting for good news about this guy, gonna try to snag him in free agent drafts in the summer, there should be some REALLY good players out there this year for those

In my leagues they usually go in August

However, League getting a late late start is doing its rookie draft now, I was able to trade away Audric Estime for the 3.12 which will now be Gadsden (will be my 3rd TE drafted in this rookie draft lol shotgun spraying)

But I still believe this will be an amazing tight end class and I think this guy is in the right system with the right coaching and the right QB to get him to his ceiling.

Yeah I thnk anyone expdcting a viable fantasy player in year 1 will be greatly disappointed. He's more of a dynasty stash. I imagine the Harbaugh offense would use multiple TEs a decent amount so that could help him get some PT this year and maybe give an idea how his transition is coming along.
