Dolphins release QB Harrington and TE McMichael

Written by: - ffLiveWire - ¦ 3/5/2007

Dolphins terminated the contracts of tight end Randy McMichael and quarterback Joey Harrington.

Releasing McMichael...who they gonna sign? He had some personal issues and maybe even some wife battering which makes him pretty scummy but that was a couple years ago...why keep him till now. He will get scooped up quickly.

Buffalo would make a great stop for him, give Losman something throw to down the middle underneath, and help out lee Evans streaking down the sidelines and isn't that what its really all about? :D

The Dolphins didn't want to pay the bonus money. McMichael will be a nice addition to some offense and due to his domestic issues it will probably be at a nice price as well (by this offseason's standards).

Why would a team virtually devoid of playmakers cut one of the few playmakers they have? There must be another shoe to drop as to why Miami dumped McMichael.

That said, he'd be a great fit in Green Bay...

Because he is due a roster bonus soon thats a good chunck of change and his play droped off last year.(alot of drops). Rumor is going around that the Bengals are interested in him but his past history might keep Marvin away.

Past history might keep Marvin away, why? I would think he would fit in nicely. :goodposting:

Considering the market price that the Vikings set for TEs with their Shiancoe deal, and to a lesser extent the contracts being offered to FAs this off-season in general, I would expect that McMichael will be thanking the Dolphins for cutting him.

:goodposting: @ dangling him out there as trade bait yesterday, which was obviously a last ditch effort before releasing him.
Graham probably would have liked to sign prior to this happening....
Not really - another TE job just opened up for him in Miami, with Cam Cameron no less.

Saintsfool, that was the first thing that came to my mind, but if Joe Horn isnt a Payton kind of player, i dont see McMichaels being one. Personally I'm still perplexed that we didnt make a go at Clements.

Olsen is going to be a hot commodity in the draft this year.
You got that right. ;)
Bears fans are killing the teams for trading Thomas Jones and seemingly acquiring so little in the process, but I disagree. It was a solid trade for both teams.Jerry Angelo had a tremendous draft last year, probably the best of any GM last year.I think this trade works out well for both teams, because while it's no secret that Chicago needs a tight end ( Clark played well, though), Greg Olsen makes the Bears an even more dangerous team. He'd give Grossman a great target, with breakaway speed to compliment Bernard Berrian and Mark Bradley. The Bears could get Olsen AND still draft a stud like Aaron Sears, Joe Staley, Justin Blalock, Ben Grubbs, etc to rebuild their line. At the very least, the extra pciks gives them versatility to move up or down.

It's funny when you look at the outrage over Pacman.

McMichael was arrested on July 9, 2005 in Columbia County, Georgia after witnesses told police he gave his wife a bloody nose. His wife, Cawanna McMichael, told police the contact with her husband was an accident as he was throwing some of her belongings out of their 1984 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Witnesses told police they saw McMichael throw his wife from the car. One witness told police he saw the athlete throw his wife away from the vehicle several times, according to the report. Cawanna McMichael was treated at the scene. According to the police report, McMichael had two glasses of wine and several beers before arguing with his wife, but he refused to take a field Breathalyzer test.[2]This marked the second domestic incident for McMichael. Prosecutors decided not to file charges after McMichael was arrested in June 2004 and accused of hitting his wife. McMichael had been charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, a second-degree felony that is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Giving his wife a bloody nose. Throwing her out of the car. Aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. And all the suburban white people are clamoring to get him on their team. Chris Henry likes to get wasted and puke, and he's a POS according to most on this board. McMichael beats up women, and he's "great value due to off-field issues". *lol* He's a scumbag, and I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team. And honestly, people who can glaze over "beating up women in spare time" need to question their own moralities.

While I would agree with you in principle, I would hesitate to make judgements based on somewhat limited, and grossly incomplete reports. Problems between people are rarely as simple as "that ******* struck a woman" Heck, I've seen guys arrested for hitting a woman, only to have the fact completely left out that she was swinging a baseball bat at him at the time. Have you ever dealt with a bipolar female who forgot her meds? The point is, be careful on making strong character judgements based on disputes between a man and a woman...they are rarely as simple as "that ******* hit her".

Do the urban white people clamor for him too?

Right argument but wrong guy. From what I understand there's no "baseball bat" in either of these situation. His defense the second time about bloodying her nose was that he was only throwing her belongings out of the window of his car and inadvertantly hit her. He sounds like Lawrence Phillips-lite.

Well said! :bag: I guess it just shows that "You can't judge a book by it's cover."

First for the sake of argument, let's say he's not a wife-beating loser.

I still LOL @ people thinking he's so great. He disappears for long stretches and doesn't score much - ie about as realiable as the weather.

I wouldn't sign his low-life loser ahrse for vet minimum. No-brainer move by MIA IMO.

Miami shopped him everywhere and couldn't even get a 7th rounder for him. Not to say that McM is a bad player, but his drops are not only bad, but they are usually drive killers.

Miami gets rid of McM and welker on the same day. Stallworth is coming in for a visit. Interesting things are afoot in Miami.

 Sooooo am I!
Why in the world would you spend that much money on Clements. He's a good player, but it's a good no sign IMO.They tried to make a run for Bly, but Denver was offering T. Bell. Now he wants out of Dener last I checked. I wonder if the Saints will inquire about him there. EDIT: nevermind, he wants to go to Washington.

1984 Cadillac Coupe de Ville? No wonder why she was complaining.
