Teams at risk of "sitting their studs" (1 Viewer)

I've lived off of the waiver wire in our league most of the season, and have hit the playoffs in all 3 of my leagues. Been pretty lucky at picking up backups and riding em on the bench until they take over as starter.

Was curious as to what teams some of you sharks might predict that the "studs" might end up riding the pine and seeing their production drop significantly, with their backups vulturing away their stats through the rest of the season. Playoff season for me is week 15, 16, and 17 -- so our league has it's Superbowl in particular impacted by this quite a bit.

In particular, I'm wondering what the thoughts are around Indy's starters -- they sat last week (after giving me tons of points- so I'm not complaining...). Also are there some good FF players that those teams now out of the hunt might sit to give their backups a chance? I'm assuming predicting this is pretty tough -- but am sure some of you guys have run into this situation in years past...

The colts seems like the most logical suggestion. If Pitt loses to Jacksonville this week, Indy locks up a first round bye with a win. Dallas is 2 wins away from locking up #1 seed in NFC. And I believe GB is 2 wins away from locking up #2 seed. If NE happens to lose vs. the Jets or Miami then you'd have to worry about them too.

If you have Plaxico, he might sit out week 17 if the Giants already clinched (maybe Jacobs too if he's still hurting).

The aforementioned teams would probably play at least a half in the last week (they would all have byes so you'd have to think you woudln't want your starters going a full 3 weeks between games.

Other than that I don't see many reasons to be concerned.

Playoff championship in week 17 is pretty stupid.

What about week 16, any danger of teams having nothing on the line then (records, seeding etc)?

Certainly the Colts - but playing in two weeks means you are probably in the championship game...and because this is an annual concern amongst FF'ers, you should have already made backup plans - it is what champions are made of.

Strong chance the Packers going to rest anyone next week? (i.e Favre or Grant)

I believe they clinched their bye.

A Giants win and a Vikings loss clinches the 5 seed for the Giants. Either way, they should have the playoffs (if not the 5 seed) clinched before week 17. Then maybe they'll rest all their starters against New England. :bag:

Not next week. If the Cowboys lose today the Packers are still in a position to get the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Even if Dallas rallies today, I think we see Green Bay's starters play the whole way. If the Packers have no chance to get the No. 1 seed in Week 17 I wouldn't expect to see the starters go more than a half - for those in leagues who play out the whole season.

Thanks, I can breathe easier knowing that.

You know from our PMs, I have BOTH Favre and Romo. The only way they both play in week 17 is if the Eagles just did what they did! :lmao: :lmao: :pickle: :pickle: Now if they can each just take care of their business next week ( )... I'm golden!
