TEXANS TO SIGN COLVIN
Posted by Michael David Smith on June 16, 2008, 9:36 a.m.
Fox 26 in Houston is reporting that free agent linebacker Rosevelt Colvin has reached a verbal agreement to sign with the Texans.
Citing unnamed league sources, Fox 26 says the 30-year-old Colvin is on his way to Houston to sign with the club this morning. Colvin visited with the Texans early this month.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans see Colvin as a situational pass rusher who can line up on the opposite side of the field from defensive end Mario Williams on passing downs.
When he was at his best, Colvin was one of the league’s top pass-rushing linebackers, with back-to-back double-digit sack seasons in Chicago in 2001 and 2002. But after signing a free-agent contract with the Patriots, he had an uneven five-year stay in New England, struggling with injuries while occasionally showing flashes of that pass-rushing ability
