***The 2007 NFL Draft*** (1 Viewer)

Wow...it's hard for a 3rd rounder to be the worst reach of the day, but the Bears may have done with with Wolfe. Just wow.
Many said that about Hester. I was a lone voice around here defending Hester and I think Wolfe is better than many backs already selected.
Hester was a guy without a position who had blinding speed and played for a major league program. Wolfe is a tiny runner who looked summarily unimpressive during the bowl/scouting season and has neither world class speed nor particularly gifted hands/route running.I'm failing to see the similarity here.Wolfe was projected 5th-7th round; did anyone see him ranked higher on a site?
I bet he pans outThe  picks are usually because a team just "fell in love" with the player like the Gmen with Kiwi. I love it when an NFL team seems to really want a player.Bills went to early for their S last year but they sure seem happy with him.But value but trading down but....getting a player they covet is super important IMO today and tomorrow and minimizes all that other stuff.
I'm still not seeing it. Lord knows this won't be the first [or last] time I'm wrong but, in my mind, Wolfe in the 3rd is one of the biggest reaches of the day. Again, people keep talking about his versatility; but the Hester comparison fails me. Wolfe wasn't a return man in college. He had never attempted a return until the Senior Bowl IIRC.
cheers?
Cappy,I would normally be happy to trade barbs, but the way both of our teams have drafted today, it's simply too depressing to bother. :wall:
meh. I've seen crappier drafts pan out. nobody really knows what will happen, so just enjoy the process. :banned:
Don't get me wrong, I take solace in the fact we can afford to have a bust draft and still make the playoffs. You guys? Not so much. ;)
I take solace in the fact I've had a championship to celebrate in my lifetime :banned:You guys? Not so much :ptts:
:lmao: :lmao:

You misunderstood me. I wasn't comparing Wolfe to Hester as players. I was comparing them as perceived reaches in Chicago. I'm sure you can search the threads. Hester was widely perceived as the same thing you now perceive Wolfe-- the biggest reach of the draft. That was my only comparison. A warning of sorts. To you Wolfe may seem like a huge reach. You probably have many who agree because the FBG punditry went way south on this kid after the senior bowl. And I am sure there are much better rationales for disliking that pick. Do you recall your impression of the Hester pick. Do a search around here. This place was brutal on the Bears for that one. Just brutal. I have a hunch they know what they are doing.

All I am saying is Chicago does a good job. Wolfe is a very good player. RBs were thinning way down. Lovie likes playmakers and he added one... a good one. Not a reach to me.

In this thread somewhere I mention the last five teams are the last five teams because they know what they are doing. EB predicts Gonzo to SD. I say If it's a WR, I don't care about my rankings, I'll trust AJ. And he gives me Craig Davis. Fine. I'm not going to make a stink. I feel the same way about whoever Chicago picks. They know more than me... and you... and EBF... and Bloom... and the rest of us message board pilots.

Hard to explain, but I did catch a few games with him playing against Michigan and Ohio State and with everyone knowing it had to be him, he showed up. Its just he is so small..................... :banned: He might pair with Bensen well though. Okwo? I still don't know much about him, but I'm noticing a running theme with this draft class ~ undersized.

Cappy...you know where I stand on that. I would gladly switch positions with you...give me one SB title surrounded by a bunch of forgettable seasons, versus annually "contending" but never hoisting the Lombardi.

Also there is a thread around here asking for our favorite players in the draft.

I listed Wolfe. I said I doubt he does it, but I hope he goes "all Barry" on the league.

So... just sayin'.
