I don't know, the Steelers were dry-humping each other yesterday. That's some pretty good bonding. What you had was a TEAM that really bonded more than any team I've ever watched...

That Pats game WAS their superbowlNot winning the Super Bowl lessens their win over NE though. Just like if you can get past the Yankees in the American League, you better win the WS or you are still just second fiddle. AFC East will be exciting next year Im sure.
It WILL beWell with Marvin it's more the factor that anyone Mike Brown selects would surely be worse. As far as coaches lasting...I don't think Cowher's act ever got old with the Steelers, or Noll's. Did Bill Walsh wear out his welcome in SF? Lots of examples. If you want to talk about the NYC market, there's the example of Joe Torre - and he was welcome to the town with headlines that read "Clueless Joe". Then again he won a ton. Maybe Bobby Valentine's a better example of a guy who lasted a long time in the market without really delivering the goods at the end.The dogs are already coming for Schottenheimer. I'm not saying it's fair. I'm just saying it is the nature of the market that a coach like Ryan is he's gonna burn hot, bright, and fast. Hell the Mangenius was feted all over the place, appeared on the Sopranos and was gone in what, like 2 years? It's impressive what he's done, but not all ACTs are created equal. It'll be interesting to watch it unfold especially with all the changes they will have next yearEVERY "ACT" wears thin.....Herm Edwards act of blabbering incoherant nonsense and pretending to know a damn thing about football wore thin....Mangini's Bellichik Jr, wall of silence wore thin.....Most HC's IMO get about a 5 year window (except Marvin Lewis - WTF has that guy done to stick around????)But, damn 2 Championship Games with a QB with level of experience as Sanchez... Rex has got a little rope here - If Rex somehow went into IND then into NE then into Pitt and won each one of those games and came back and beat the Packers, you would have to build a statue of the man.... It would have been one of the greatest things I've ever seen in sports....I'm just saying that things change really fast in this market. They go 8-8 and out next year and the big talk will wear thin. His dad's act wore thin even though he had turned things around in Philly pretty quickly. Look at the way Coughlin's talked about. With someone of the bravado of Rex, he'll make that rope shorter, not longer.-QGbarring at least 2 straight bad seasons, no way....yea he's talked, to 2 afc titles games with a quarterback with just 2 years under his beltthey beat manning on the road, then brady on the road, then fell short against pitt....karma?? not really, more like the way sports works....you're telling me if rex and the jets laid low and shut their mouths the whole year they'd have better karma and in turn a better chance to win the game?not really karma, you're basically picking the field against the jets.....now if the jets collapsed and missed the playoffs, then perhaps the karma angle makes more sense.....if bad karma got them all the way to the afc title game, then they didnt really do anything all that bad right? Will be interesting to see when Rex's act will wear thin in the NYC market. At least sports area will be more listenable in the near future.Until proven otherwise he's taking on the role of Bum Phillips right about now.-QG-QG

Not my words, I was quoting RexI agree with youFootball Critic said:So the second biggest game is not one of those AFC championships? Wow, that explains a lot.Lets win a AFC Divisional game, but lose 4 AFC championships, lol, sorry I have to question your fandum if that satisfies u.Glad that pleases you.Road Dogg said:They did win the 2nd biggest game in their historygranted they have lost 4 AFC championships, but those games were not as big as beating the pats
REALLY????!!!!!!Jesus, some list all the 1st rounders they have playing there. This is the Yankees of the NFL. Buying all the talent they can and still sucking feet.Reaper said:Rex doesn't have the best talent...
Yea, you're absolutely right. The Steelers were the big bad "bully"...certainly not the 14-2 Patriots coming off a 45-3 thrashing with their MVP QB and Coach of the Year leading the assaultFootball Critic said:Its like a trash talking kid in school, shutting up cuz the bully is around and wanting to meet him at the bike rack, they got scared...and played like it. Thats all that happened this past week, do you think the Jets really wanted to make Harrison mad? And to be honest, I'm glad the Jets lost...even better the shot of Shrex throwing down his headset as he realizes he "didnt have the best team all year"....Go Steelers, well, actually go Pack...but any team that shuts up the Jets is a new favorite of mine. I wonder if this game was about Tomlin and Shrex...If it was Tomlin owned him.BobbyLayne said:I was unaware the Jets did any significant trash talking during the week of the AFC Championship Game.
You have a link?
They were all business, and played it straight.
Pats? #### them. #### their fans. #### their coach. The whole lot of them are arrogant and deserve the disrespect the Jets showed them.
I really don't think something like the number of first rounders is indicative of how much talent a team has.Vernon Gholston was a first rounder (and a high one at that). James Harrison was undrafted. And I have no idea how you can possibly say that the Jets are buying talent when there is a salary cap. This team has very few impact big money free agents. But for the record, the Jets first rounders.....Sanchez- DraftedTomlinson- Free agent, but didn't get huge money and is obviously on the downside, if not doneEdwards- TradeHolmes- TradeKeller- DraftedFerguson- DraftedMangold- DraftedEllis- Drafted Gholston (didn't play yesterday and unfortunately, was drafted)Pryce- signed as a free agent mid-season after the Ravens cut himPace- big money free agent signingRevis- DraftedCromartie- TradeBryan Thomas- DraftedWilson- DraftedREALLY????!!!!!!Jesus, some list all the 1st rounders they have playing there. Now, they've made two straight AFC championship games and they should be good for the foreseeable future. On that alone, I would say that what Rex brought to the table was "worth it."But aside from that, is what Rex does wrong? People complain when coaches speak in cliches and platitudes, and then Rex comes along who is nothing but honest and complimentary of his players, and of other players as well, and people take shots at him. Lost amidst all the "trash-talking" was the fact that Rex was borderline reverential in how he talked about Bellichick, and he has nothing but respect for most teams in the NFL. I don't really see why so many people dislike him, except that maybe he vocalizes the things that other coaches say behind closed doors?
