*** The 8-8 San Francisco 49ers - Let's forget 2014 thread *** (1 Viewer)

I'll have what he's having.
You already had it earlier :loss:
Yeah, your 9ers played a decent game week 1.
You can't handle what I'm having.
A tantrum? Is there fernet in that?
Calling a tantrum out while in a 49er thread is pure Squawk fan right there.
Some rivalries predate the Internet even.Savor that last sip.
Yeah, I see you and the Raiderfan going at it all the time :hawkfanforgetstheywereintheafcw:
Let's revisit this after the pall.
I think you have more issues with Hooper than you and I

I think this might be interesting.

I'm not sure I'm even going to tune in this weekend. With Willis probably out, the Niners are starting an Borland, Wilhoite, Skuta, and a badly underperforming Brooks at LB. Peyton is going to carve them up. That's before we mention the injuries in the secondary.
:goodposting:

Denver is a great team. I think the Niners can take them if their defense is at full strength, but with that skeleton crew it was going to be a bloodbath. Glad I saved myself some aggravation by not tuning in for the second half.

Some thoughts on the 9ers from someone without an agenda.

Kaep is an exceptional athlete who can make throws on the run that no one else except maybe Wilson can make. However, he is not a fluid pocket passer. His threat is running to pass. It seems like Harbaugh is trying to force the pocket passing which limits his success. He has the WRs/TE to be successful but he needs to progress A LOT! Otherwise, he'll do just what he's done, go far but never over the hump.

The Defense gets a major pass this year.

Kaep needs to force the pocket passing because that's how he is going to learn. He's doing a noticeably better job at making progressions this year though he still makes his share of dumb throws. The receivers really didn't help him out any last night with the drops - that may have been a competitive game (at least in the first half) if VD and Boldin don't drop a couple of easy balls.

Kaep's progressing just fine. This is an offense in transition. It was pure game manager football at the QB position the years prior under Harbaugh. Kaep already has improved the passing offense to where Davis and Boldin had one of their best seasons last year, and the offense isn't Alex Smith horizontal anymore, rather it's Kaep vertical. The problem is he's the only deep threat. Seriously. They would have to clone Kaep so he can have a WR that is fast as he is.

That's why whiffing an entire draft means something here. You can't do that at the management level, despite record.

Good point drummer. We've had no impact whatsoever from these high picks the last few years.
Somewhere you're wondering "where the hell is Aldon Smith?"

Why do they leave this gate wide open?

Let's not forget the niners have played a murderer's row of a schedule thus far...

They went 2-2 against 4 one loss teams and lost a very winnable game to the Bears, but beat a very hot KC team. All this with a boatload of injuries and a depleted defense. Yea we got spanked by the Superbowl favorites, but there's still more than half the season to be played.

Schefter tweet:

With linebacker Aldon Smith poised to return to the roster as early as this week, with defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey eligible to come off the injured-reserve designated-to-return list in two weeks, with linebacker NaVorro Bowman poised to return in late November, and running back Marcus Lattimore potentially returning from the NFI list, the 49ers need roster space they simply do not have. It is why, come Tuesdays trade deadline, the 49ers will be interested in dealing a defensive player or two on the back end of their roster to get back a late-round pick and, more important, a roster spot or two. As it is, the 49ers simply dont have space for the infusion of talent theyll be receiving in the next month and they need to somehow try to create it in the most productive way possible. Tuesdays trade deadline could be just the chance.

Well, I think it's time for Harbaugh to stop playing the media, since Bochy has blown his ### out of the water with class and a Dynasty to boot.

Which only shows that they aren't on the same row anymore as the murderers.

If they don't pay Pablo after this it's BS IMO.
After many years of the Lunatic Fringe vs. Brian Sabean, Sabean is way vidnicated now, even though this is more Bochy than Sabean. Who knows where Panda lies in this, but yeah, pay Panda.

I still can't believe how the game ended yesterday. It kinda felt like the 2014 death blow...

They absolutely need to win their next 3 @NO (which is a tall task), @NYG, and vs Washington.

I think they got screwed a few times in terms of the officiating, but it's hard to get upset about it when the team plays that poorly. Barring some dramatic, dramatic improvement on the OL, this team isn't going deep in the playoffs even if they get there.

Disgusting.

I'm over Kaepernick. We need a better QB. I'm not saying this because of Sundays game, the dude just isn't that good.

He has all of the physical tools needed, but mentally I don't know if he can ever get over the hump. When a team takes away his first read, he looks lost.

This unfortunately isn't new and hasn't improved over the last two seasons.

For the first time this season, I'm starting to think they don't even get in.

I feel like this can be said about most qbs that don't make it in the nfl. Yes some don't have the physical skills but most do and just can't wrap their head around the pro game

That being said I agree...i haven't like Kaep from the get go. They are never going anywhere with this kid as a leader. Yes they can build a phenomenal team around him and hope he can just sort of steward the team into the sb but he's not putting anything on his shoulders and winning anything.

I am beginning to think the 49ers go 8-8 this year and are at the bottom of the nfc west
Care to wager on that?
Half way through...
You may be half right. STL won't have a better record than SF IMO...but your record prediction could happen. You should have jumped on that bet!

:banned:
Bad bet though - if I am right the 49ers stink. If I am wrong I lose the bet...

never take a bad bet :)

I'm still a Kaep supporter. I think he looks marginally better this year than last. He may never be a HOF guy but he's better than most. Waiting around for the next HOFer will make you miserable.

Agreed. If it wasn't for the WS Win, I'd be really pissed off right now.

hopefully three things happen

Giants fire Coughlin, Niners fire Harbaugh.Giants hire Harbaugh.it's on my Christmas wish list.

Please Michigan don't be a Scrooge here, please...

Patrick Willis out for the year and Bowman is experiencing knee pain. That basically puts a bow on the season - there's no way they contend for a title with the second string MLBs on the field, even if Aldon comes back full strength.

:wall: Hadn't heard about Willis but saw something the other say that said he could miss significant time.

I didnt think we were gonna contend this year anyway, so at least it won't be a disappointment if they do make the playoffs and get bounced.

It sucks, but it is what it is.

ETA: they beat NO in NO without Willis...if they can run the ball well, avoid turnovers and play solid D, ya never know.

Yeah, but this hurts the run defense considerably. The pass defense depends a lot on the rush defense, and being that the secondary is still a Baalke work in progress, this means Fangio is gonna have to scheme is butt off - which he can do - but the groceries are getting thin in the cabinet.

This year was the year to pull it all together, and the 49ers - from the FO on down - are slowly falling apart.

ETA: very special nod to Willis: I remember when he was the only defensive player who made almost every single defensive play on the team. Sideline to sideline, nobody possesed the pure fundamental skills he has before Bowman.

This is for jurb:

Kaep: 2,359 yards passing, 7.4 avg, 235.9 ypg, 14 TDs, 5 INTs

Awex: 1,977 yards passing (including Charles' legs), 6.8 avg, 197.7 ypg, 11 TDs, 4 INTs

Yeah.....

I thought the Skins defense was ranked 24th in PA? How the hell can the 49ers only score 17?

16 points last week.

17 points this week.

PROGRESS.

I had RZ channel on the whole day, and they hardly cut to the 49er game lulz. Saw a lot of Shaun Hill though. Between my trying to stay awake, Hill's name being called, and the 49ers TO's and score, I thought it was a Mike Singletary game of 2009.
