The Audible - IDP 401 part one (1 Viewer)

Excellent stuff here. :bs:

I was especially glad to hear the great explanation by Jene of the under tackle position in the Tampa 2 defense, which I was not completely understanding before.

Just listening to this as we speak. One thing I'm unsure about is the 4-3 college front 'which differs from other 4-3 fronts in that the defensive ends line up more to the outside to get a better angle at the QB.' I google this term and find nothing except the link to the Audible broadcast where it is mentioned. Is there another name for it?

Which teams use this particular 4-3 style out of the ones listed in the main base defenses thread? I'm especially interested because I'm in a league that awards 5 pts per sack.

That's coachspeak that I've seen published in print for the more aggressive 4-3 fronts that Jimmy Johnson and others started using in the late 80s when defensive speed became all the rage. The teams that run a lot of Cover-2 and all the proteges of Johnson/Wannstedt and also Jim Bates (DEN, GB) play a lot of those 7-, 8- or 9-techniques (off the tackle altogether or outside the TE) on the line instead of the 5-technique (off the tackle's shoulder). You might remember seeing KGB or Freeney well outside the offensive linemen for example.I don't know if you'll have much more luck, but you could google the technique numbers to see if you get more relevant information.
