The Audible interview with Jim Wyatt (1 Viewer)

translation: they are already making excuses for Young . . .
Losing a proven 1200 yard RB who made defenses respect the running game is a huge loss. I hardly think they are making excuses. They are relying on unproven RB's and unproven WR's to help Young. I think it's more the reality of things than excuses. I agree with Wyatt about the loss of Henry being worse than Bennett and Wade.

I shouldve clarified . . . I meant the media . . . they have given lots of hype to Young, and now they will have an excuse when Tennessee goes backwards . . .Henry is nothing special . . . remember they played two games agaisnt the Colts . . . if Henry was a valuable commodity, they would've retained him . . . they didn't, so what does that tell you??

Wyatt thought the loss of Henry was going to hurt VY more than the loss of Bennett and Wade...
Makes sense because Bennett/Wade are lousy/average at best wr's that are replaceable with equally lousy/average wr's and Henry is a good back and his replacements are the worst tandem in football.

Could be a variety of things..they made a bad decision, that they didn't anticipate someone stepping in and paying him the money he got, that they thought they could trade for Turner, that they thought White might turn it around, maybe Henry didn't want to play there....If Henry was nothing special I don't think the Bronc's would have signed him for the money/duration they did (they don't do those things and are fairly good at evaluating RB's). Look at Henry's career stats, they are pretty good on some baaad football teams.

again, he is decent, not special . . . he can be replaced . . . will White (attitude) or Henry (not talented enough) do it?? Probably not, but maybe they will find a decent replacement in 2008 . . .

I wouldn't call him an elite talent (top 5-6 talent wise) but put in the right system he's a top 10 back. Heck, he finished 8th and 11th on two bad Bill teams. I think he had some personal problems, McGahee got drafted, etc. that derailed him for a couple years but I would definitely put him in the upper half of RB's talent wise.

I know Vince Young's improbable run last year has Titans fans expecting miracles, but I can't see how this team isn't among the two or three worst in the league.

No proven runner

No proven receiver

A porous defense

OUCH

Not to mention the loss of Pacman on def/ST. VY will need to be superman to get this team to .500. I'd expect them to get about 5-6 wins this year.

Interesting how he said that B Jones has not really taken off this offseason and needs to be motivated to take that #1 WR role.

You're basing that off Wyatt's opinion after a few OTAs?! I'd suggest waiting to pass judgment until they get into camp a bit, especially because Vince has basically insisted that they all go to Houston to continue to train with him and his trainer(s) for a few weeks. We don't necessarily need a go-to guy that grabs more than 100 balls and has 1000+ yards receiving. We need Vince to become more comfortable in the offense so that he can go through his reads properly, and for the WRs that do make the team to run their routes clean and find openings. When the Titans beat teams, it'll be because we've moved the chains consistently, and not because Vince is connecting on home runs to a stud wideout. Granted, someone needs to step up in the running game, but I think we'll do just fine behind a very underrated line.
