The Audible - interview with Kevin Acee (1 Viewer)

I don't know if I can talk about the pod cast, but I'm going to anyway and someone can let me know if I need to delete stuff.

Two things:

The biggest news (to me anyway) in this whole interview was Merriman going back to see Dr. Andrews about his knee. Acee didn't seem real certain about what this was all about. They're hoping it's just a check up, but I got a very :wall: vibe about Merriman from that segment.

In regards to Hester, I didn't hear anything different from what we already knew - Hester is going to fill Turner's mop up role. I don't know that that directly translates to "handcuff" for LaDainian. As I've been saying, if LaDainian went down I think Sproles would get nearly as many touches as Hester to fill the void.

podcast is free content, and discussion about episodes is always appreciated.I wonder how often LT2 will take himself out of the game to get a breather. If he's anything like Clinton Portis was last year it won't be that often. No doubt it would be a Hester/Sproles RBBC with JH getting the goalline work.

I'm of the opinion that everyone on the Chargers, including LaDainian, have gone into preserve LaDainian's career as long as possible mode. I'm expecting for LaDainian to account for the lowest % of the team's total touches in his career this year, the previous low being around 48%, with an accompanying career low in carries - his previous low being 313. Maybe not a huge drop off, down to like 45% or so. I also think Norv is really trying to balance the emphasis on offense between run and pass (it's time to see what Rivers can really do), which along with trying to keep LaDainian more fresh and less dinged up will see more Sproles and Hester involved in the normal game plan and even less LaDainian than normal once the Chargers look like they've put games away.If it looks like Hester can be consistently effective in short yardage, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take a decent amount of those carries from LaDainian to lessen the beating on LaDainian. I don't think LaDainian will lose any appreciable amount of goal line carries to Hester (or Tolbert/Pinnock).To reiterate this is all my own opinion of course - I'm just talkin' here.
