The Big Ben/Anderson-Quinn QBBC (1 Viewer)

In my main league I drafted Big Ben and picked up Derek Anderson in a recent trade because his playoff match ups are nice. I figured if he was still putting up decent numbers by week 14(start of our playoffs) then he'd be valuable. After looking at the match up from here on out they pair up well so I grabbed Brady Quinn in case it becomes an issue and that's how I'm rolling. Here's how the better match ups shake out:

Week 6: Dolphins

Week 7: Broncos

Week 8: Rams or Cincy

Week 9: Seahawks

Week 10: Browns

Week 11: Jets

Week 13: Dolphins

Week 14: Cincy

Week 15: Jets

Week 16: Bills or Rams

Seattle week 9 and Denver week 7 are a little tough. I actually picked up Jason Campbell who plays the Jets week 9 as a back up. But other than that it's some cherry QB match ups. Sure, I'd rather have Tom Brady, but I drafted Ben in the 10th round and picked up the other QBs for basically nothing. So if you didn't get a top 5 QB, the Big Ben/Anderson-Quinn QBBC might be a nice alternative.

Wow... this thread goes in a number of directions... not sure if it's a WDIS, WDIPU, or what.

"I figured if he was still putting up decent number by week 14... and if not"..... huh? I can guarantee you the "if not" will be too late for alternatives.

So by this.. via your thread... you are saying by grabbing both Cleveland QBs (Quinn/Brady) you are locking in a decent #2 QB???!! And/or proof positive that de-prioritizing QB, you can always find some scrub team, a la Cleveland, that may bail you matchups?

I'm very curious as to what the strategy is here.... seriously (I think, albeit curiosity and amusement)

Well let me see if I can clear some of this up for you. It's not a WDIS or WDIPU(whatever that is) thread. If Anderson/Quinn doesn't work out by week 14 I still have Roethlisberger who is currently 8th in QB scoring in my league. As far as Anderson/Quinn being a decent QB2, Anderson is currently 6th in QB scoring in my league, so "decent #2 QB" might be a bit of a stretch, time will tell. But I didn't start the thread to talk about my team. With Leinart, Delhomme, Green, McCown, Losman, Bulger, Brees, Jackson, Alex Smith, Young and others either on IR, facing serious injury situations, or way under performing I'm sure a lot of people are searching for a QB fix. Just sharing some information that I hope might help someone in a bad QB spot. I think you are reading way too much into my post. If you drafted Brady and have no worries, cool. But I'm sure a lot of people got stung by Brees or Bulger so far, or played the late round QBBC approach and got stung by some of the many QBs on the previous list and might find some of what I posted useful. If nothing else realizing that Anderson, who is currently third in the NFL in TD passes and seventh in yards, faces the Jets and Cincy in weeks 15 and 16 might be useful.

Not sure if you're reading the same post I read??? I didn't pick up on your points at all.I picked up Anderson in a number of leagues after the week 2 Bengals game and have Big Ben as well. Unfortunately, This will be the first week I start him, even though he's had better games then Ben. I'm waiting for the bottom to fall out on the Cleveland passing game, but now starting to think that maybe it won't. They have some nice weapons and matchups going forward.

Good post Wadsworth and my similar thoughts. I have Palmer and picked up Anderson after the Cinci-Clev game.

I already started Andersen last week on Palmer's bye and got a win.

Cinci-Clev play each other again on week 16! What a dream! I don't want my opponent to have Andersen so I picked him up. Now I just have to make it to that championship game.

My league isn't penalized by turnovers so Andersen has been no problem and would have won me one more game than Palmer has so far. And did better against Bal then Palmer did against NE. I will likely start him another couple of times when Palm plays Pit and and And is against STL and ARI. And maybe play him aga Buf in week 15 of the PO when And is against STL.

Cleveland has a very easy schedule, great offensive weapons, and a lousy defense so they are throwing all the time. Its a great fantasy team.

I would almost think about trading Palmer if I needed someone but I am not sure Andersen will be there all year if he stays a good fantasy QB but the team doesn't win do to turnovers.
