This League is set up to be a challenge each year. Top teams will always be looking over their shoulder. Weaker teams can rebuild quicker. Team owners that are quality owners -- liked by the league, active in posting, active in free agency, active in trades, yet with the poorest records at the end of the year are given compensatory draft picks each year during the next league draft. This is set up to retain Quality Team Owners. This is also set up to create Parity each fantasy season. I want this league to constantly be a challenge to every owner. I want to retain quality team owners. I also want to help beginning dynasty team owners learn the ropes and not drop out after one season if they didn't make the best decisions or simply didn't understand the ropes.
The scoring settings in this league require research, active trading, quality drafting, and aggressive free agent adds/drops. Offensive players are scored as a pretty typical PPR league. Defensive players are scored much higher than typical leagues. This makes the league's best Defensive players like JJ Watt and Jason PP - DLs, Justin Houston, Luke Kuechly - LBs, and Harrison Smith-DB extremely valuable. As in the NFL, a good defense can win a game.
For experienced and successful team owners, this league will challenge you every year because of the compensatory picks given to the weaker teams in the league. Other team owners will be gunning for you each season. One of my favorite league experiences was when 80% of the league either had a 6-7, or 7-6 record. The winner had a 9-4 record. The worst team a 5-8 record. Playoffs were fun. The league truly went down to the wire. All the team owners stayed interested and vested in the league. The next year, because of a couple of key acquisitions, one of the weakest teams became the league champ.
As a League Commish, I communicate quickly. For quality, beginning Dynasty Team owners, I can offer you support and point you in the right direction for research and strategy. I am very active in the offseason and make a lot of trades. I will appoint a co-Commish and also Division Captains who will influence this league with their involvement.
