The Continuing Adventures of the DENVER BRONCOS (1 Viewer)

Portis 26

Madden Freak
The Year is 2010, and we have just completed the first seven years of our DENVER BRONCOS AWESOME DYNASTY on MADDEN.

And what a first seven years it has been.

SIX SUPER BOWL titles in SEVEN YEARS courtesy of innumerable amazing comebacks from JAKE PLUMMER.

An amazing young team emerging with our FFA players, thanks to WRs MAGNUM JUNIOR and WORMUS MAXIMUS, offensive linemen PEAK BROWN, EMIL GOLDSTEIN, FLAP GREEN and HUEY DICKSON, FB BONE CRUSHER and many other young stars.

All this to go with real life established stars like CLINTON PORTIS.

You can read the whole story here:

http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...t=0&start=0

And here are some of the games you can read about:

Coming back from 15 points down at the two minute warning to beat the RAMS in the SUPER BOWL in YEAR FIVE.

The DEION SANDERS tackle that ensured us our first SUPER BOWL in YEAR ONE.

Beating MICHAEL VICK and the FALCONS to win the SUPER BOWL in YEAR SEVEN when their two point conversion failed.

BEUERLEIN's two TD passes in the fourth quarter to beat TOM BRADY and the PATS in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME of YEAR ONE.

The QUENTIN GRIFFIN kickoff return for a TD that beat PEYTON MANNING and the COLTS in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME of YEAR THREE.

Putting up 52 points against BRETT FAVRE in his final game in the SUPER BOWL in YEAR FIVE.

LELIE's TD reception on fourth down to beat the RAVENS in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME of YEAR FIVE.

MIKE MINTER blowing up JAMAL LEWIS to defeat the RAVENS in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME of YEAR SIX.

MAGNUM JUNIOR's 221 yards vs the COLTS in the first playoff game in YEAR SEVEN.

PRYCE's four sacks to beat DAUNTE CULPEPPER and the VIKINGS in the SUPER BOWL of YEAR THREE.

ED McCAFFREY's three consecutive TDs in three playoff games to conclude his career.

Those of you who are not familiar with the format of the MADDEN AWESOME DYNASTY are cordinally invited to click on one of the links in my sig below.

The greatest of the MADDEN AWESOME DYNASTIES was the OAKLAND RAIDERS which introduced, for the first time, the concept of members of the FFA being team members and coaches, even front office staff.

If you click on the links in my sig you can read the full story of the RAIDERS, of the dynasties built by RANDALL MAGNUM and GREY PILGRIM, the whole epic tale.

It is in that spirit that we are about to commence the DENVER BRONCOS using the greatest of all Maddens, Madden 2004 on the PS2.

I've always wanted to do the 2003 BRONCOS in MADDEN for several very good reasons.

- I saw them play the PATRIOTS at Invesco Field

- They feature my hero CLINTON PORTIS at the peak of his powers

- We get to put them in their cool ORANGE CRUSH uniforms

The traditional "AWESOME DYNASTY" rules apply. No trading (makes it too easy). The games are not played, only simulated, or watched. All player acquisitions are made in the draft and in free agency. It's all about building a franchise, and then watching it in action.

But I'll be doing things a bit differently this time.

No more play by play. Just summaries of what happened.

A reminder that YOU TOO can be part of this. Just sign up on the thread! The more active your participation, the better your chance of being on the team!

And now as we enter YEAR EIGHT, DONOVAN McNABB takes over at QB from JAKE PLUMMER but we will soon need a new young star.

The future is unwritten - now it's time to write it!

The adventure continues!

BRONCOS win 34-16

7-0 Junior 6 yard TD reception

10-0 Hales 42 yard FG

17-0 Winfield 21 yard fumble return

24-0 Junior 32 yard TD reception

(Nelson 2 point conversion run)

31-8 Portis 3 yard TD run

31-16 Peters 12 yard TD reception

(Nelson 2 point conversion run)

34-16 Hales 49 yard FG

A workmanlike victory over an uninspired Jets team, McNABB was solid in completing 13 of 18 for 193 yards and 2 TDs, both to MAGNUM JUNIOR. MAXIMUS caught four passes for 97 yards.

Nickelback ACE WINFIELD was the MVP for his forced fumble and fumble recovery for a TD.

OGDEN had seven pancakes, while BRANDON had seven tackles.

PENNINGTON completed 25 of 39 for 285 yards and a score.

Next up! The 14-2 RAVENS come to town! We've had a couple of epic duels with these guys in the last few years!

BRONCOS win 24-21

0-7 Lewis 7 yard TD run

0-10 Tate 22 yard FG

7-10 Maximus 15 yard TD reception

14-10 Maximus 5 yard TD reception

21-10 Portis 1 yard TD run

21-18 Boller 12 yard TD run

(Lewis 2 point conversion run)

21-21 Tate 26 yard FG

24-21 Hales 41 yard FG

Another heavyweight slugfest saw the BRONCOS advance to the SUPER BOWL as LS TOM NALEN, in his final year, snapped it to holder JAKE PLUMMER, in his final year, and new K SHAWN HALES booted it through.

The RAVENS had recovered from 21-10 down to tie it at 21 before the thrilling finish.

McNABB completed 18 of 26 for 220 yards and a couple of TDs but also threw 3 INTs.

MAGNUM JUNIOR had 6 catches for 107 yards, while MAXIMUS only caught 2 for 20 yards but he got 2 TDs and was named MVP.

PEAK BROWN had 8 pancakes, while URLACHER added 7 tackles, 1 for a loss, and a sack.

BOLLER completed 17 of 29 for 185 yards.

BRONCOS win 41-3

7-0 Junior 77 yard TD reception

14-0 Ward 8 yard TD reception

21-0 Portis 1 yard TD run

24-0 Hales 37 yard FG

24-3 Zala 18 yard FG

31-3 Maximus 2 yard TD reception

38-3 Junior 58 yard TD reception

41-3 Hales 19 yard FG

After a couple of relatively uninspired playoff outings the shackles came off for the BRONCOS as they shellacked the hapless SAINTS in a rout.

McNABB was named MVP as he completed 15 of 20 for 314 yards and 4 TDs and rushed 5 times for 43 yards, one of the single finest performances by a QB in SUPER BOWL history.

MAGNUM JUNIOR could also have laid claim to the MVP with 4 catches for 175 yards and 2 TDs.

PLUMMER made a cameo appearance when McNABB was knocked out for several plays, he completed 1 of 2 passes for 35 yards and chucked an INT.

AARON BROOKS was held to 12 of 29 for 181 yards and FOUR INTERCEPTIONS as the ORANGE CRUSH D dominated.

This means that the BRONCOS run their incredible SUPER BOWL record in the dynasty to SEVEN WINS in EIGHT YEARS.

We also got JAKE THE SAINT a SEVENTH RING before his retirement.

With PLUMMER retiring, McNABB is the new king of COLORADO!

The king is dead! Long live the king!

The SPORTS ILLUSTRATED COVER featuring DONOVAN McNABB kissing the VINCE LOMBARDI trophy.... "SEVENTH HEAVEN"

Meanwhile the DENVER POST had the seven Lombardi trophies lined up in a row with "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN" as the headline.

Or was it a brilliant move that will take the BRONCOS WR corps to the next level?

One thing for sure - MAGNUM JUNIOR and WORMUS MAXIMUS can't be too happy!

YEAR NINE NOTES:

Our new backup QB is raw MARCO OTTIS.

MAGNUM JUNIOR remains our #1 WR but RANDY MOSS steps straight in as WR #2, with WORMUS MAXIMUS demoted to #3 and ROD GARDNER the #4.

Our new P is TODD SAUERBRUN.

Otherwise, it's as you were!

The RANDY MOSS deal is an absolutely sensational signing that has ignited a massive dispute across the Rocky Mountains! Were the BRONCOS right to bring in a clearly past it 34 year old and thus disrupt their team chemistry?
HORRIBLE signing. An absolute insult to my main man MAX.
Or was it a brilliant move that will take the BRONCOS WR corps to the next level?
We already at the next level! We've got a bunch of idiots in the front office!P.S. Thanks for the $72 Mil.

YEAR NINE PRO BOWLERS:McNABB, PORTIS, CRUSHER, MAGNUM JUNIOR, WORMUS MAXIMUS, SHOCKEY, OGDEN, GREEN, DICKSON, PRYCE, DAVIS, URLACHER, BRANDON
Pro bowl team is like like Leonard-Duran II. No Moss.
We didn't even start MOSS during the regular season, MAXIMUS got the reps and will get the stats boost in the off-season.
Sorry skip, forgot about that part of the system.Does the stats boost happen only after the season, or has MAXIMUS already gone up prior to the playoffs? And does MOSS lose any rating for his poor season stats?

In this (classic) version of Madden, players retain their same stats throughout the course of the season, it's only in the off-season that changes occur. It changed a bit in later versions.

Coming up! PEYTON MANNING and the 10-6 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS come to town!

And we get to see RANDY MOSS in his final ever games before retirement! Let's hope RANDY wants to go out with a bang!

10-6 COLTS at 15-1 BRONCOS

BRONCOS lose 21-18

7-0 Portis 5 yard TD run

10-0 Hales 24 yard FG

10-7 Conway 9 yard TD reception

10-14 Osborne 1 yard TD run

10-21 Conway 3 yard TD reception

18-21 Portis 84 yard TD run

(Portis 2 point conversion)

A dismal, awful game. DONOVAN McNABB threw a crucial end-zone interception, literally throwing away the game.

21 unanswered points by the COLTS after the BRONCOS had gone up 10-0 put DENVER in a 21-10 hole, and although PORTIS got eight back with an amazing long TD dash and conversion, McNABB's error prevented the comeback from succeeding.

McNABB finished 18 of 24 for 227 yards and the INT.

MANNING completed 18 of 26 for 238 yards and 2 TDs but was knocked out of the game late.

PORTIS was the hero on offense for the BRONCOS with 14 carries for 110 yards and 2 TDs, and the two pointer.

RANDY MOSS was the goat with a dismal two catches for 27 yards.

WORMUS MAXIMUS, demoted to the slot by MOSS, responded by catching 5 balls for 68 yards.

MIKE DOSS was the MVP for his INT of McNABB and also posted 10 tackles and forced a fumble.

And so the MOSS signing backfires spectacularly as the BRONCOS crash out of the playoffs at the first hurdle.

This was our first playoff loss since YEAR TWO!

Talk about a cursed signing!

RETIRED:

Delta O'Neal

O'NEAL had a great career with us, finished with 479 tackles and 44 INTs. He went to two PRO BOWLS.

Samari Rolle

ROLLE also had a great career with us, he went to four PRO BOWLS. These two were our starting CBs for most of the first decade of the BRONCOS.

Randy Moss

The "Curse of Randy" doomed the BRONCOS to their first playoff loss in years. MOSS concludes his career with 1127 catches for 16677 yards and 140 TDs.

Daryl Gardener

Started at DT for much of the first decade of the BRONCOS.

Rod Gardner

RE-SIGNED:

Jonathan Ogden (52/7)

NOT RE-SIGNED:

Lamar Owens

Marco Ottis

Dale Walton

Bob Sacamano

OWENS played a key role as a reserve LB, SACAMANO did well but faced stiff competition.
