YEAR 14 has been simmed and the BRONCOS have gone 12-4!

Not a bad record given we were giving our backups a lot of playing time with the impending retirements of MAGNUM, MAXIMUS and PORTIS!

YEAR FOURTEEN TOP PERFORMERS:

BRONCO threw for 3802 yards, 23 TDs and 22 INTs. The high INT figure was because he was throwing to some very raw WRs.

HANK BOYD rumbled for 810 yards and 10 TDs.

CRUSHER added 563 yards and 2 TDs.

Young SONNIE LUBICK caught 70 balls for 1204 yards and 6 TDs, while young EL HUCKS caught 66 for 914.

KEYS MYATHS snared a ridiculous 186 balls for 1177 yards and 15 TDs. That's the only really absurd number I've seen out of Madden 2004.

LARRY ORTIZ had 36 tackles and 10 sacks.

MISTER PHOENIX had 66 tackles and 12 sacks.

YEAR 14 STARTERS:

QB SOCAL BRONCO (92) - Agile with a rocket arm, still very raw, INTs are a problem

* backup QB JEREMY CONWAY (77) - Veteran with big game experience

HB CLINTON PORTIS (99) - Ascends to the magical 99 ranking his final year in the league

FB BONE CRUSHER (97) - Monster FB looks entrenched for years to come

WR1 MAGNUM JUNIOR (98) - Burner with incredible all-round attributes, his final year in the league

WR2 WORMUS MAXIMUS (87) - Speed 99, built like a tank, hands like claws, his final year in the league

* WR3 MATT COOK (86) - Steady possession guy

TE1 KEYS MYATHS (81) - Fantastic hands and agility, not much of a blocker

* TE2 TOM ALBANY (70) - Good speed and strength, emerging

LT MARK WATKINS (88) - Hugely strong, could improve his techniques

LG EMIL GOLDSTEIN (96) - Enormous strength 99 road-grader

C FLAP GREEN (96) - Strong as an ox and brilliant pass and run-blocker

RG HUEY DICKSON (96) - Monster strength 99 guy with incredible blocking skills

RT PEAK BROWN (94) - Peak by name, peak by nature, mountainous strength 99 OT

LE LARRY ORTIZ (95) - Fantastic strength-speed ratio

DT JOHN HENDERSON (92) - Mouth-watering size, speed and strength

DT RYAN SIMS (90) - Incredible agility, superb pass-rushing skills

RE MISTER PHOENIX (90) - Amazing speed and strength, true freak

LOLB JOHN PAIGE (96) - Incredible speed and great reactions

MLB BRIAN URLACHER (98) - Incredible athlete with All-World speed

ROLB EVIL CORPORATION (84) - Great speed and smarts, sky is the limit

CB1 ACE WINFIELD (83) - Brilliant speed, still not quite the finished product

CB2 MARTY ONE (78) - Talented youngster steps right in

* CB3 BAMBOO BILL (74) - Awesome speed, still raw

FS DHAMON HAWK (83) - Great speed, been awaiting his turn

SS KIRBY KIRBSTER (74) - Green, but with great acceleration

K SHAWN HALES (95) - Big-legged left-footed K

P VINNIE BUNDY (95) - Solid all-round punter with big leg

YEAR 14 NOTES:

This is CLINTON PORTIS' final year in the league. He will retire as probably the all-time ground gainer in NFL history. HANK BOYD, a relative bust so far his career, will replace him.

This is MAGNUM JUNIOR's final year in the league. He is a first ballot Hall of Famer.

This is WORMUS MAXIMUS' final year in the league. He's been a great WR #2 and punt returner for us.

KEYS MYATHS is our new starting TE with SHOCKEY's retirement.

Monster DE LARRY ORTIZ starts at our crucial rush end slot, with MISTER PHOENIX swapping over.

BRIAN URLACHER moves to the middle, EVIL CORPORATION steps in on the strong side, and JOHN PAIGE is the weak side LB.

MARTY ONE is our new #2 CB. BAMBOO BILL is the nickelback.

KIRBY KIRBSTER debuts as our starting SS.

OK, here we go!

Final chance for glory for PORTIS, MAGNUM and MAXIMUS!

Coming up, it's the 10-6 CLEVELAND BROWNS at the 12-4 BRONCOS!

10-6 BROWNS at 12-4 BRONCOS

BROWNS win 9-7

0-3 Dawson 43 yard FG

7-3 Portis 6 yard TD run

7-6 Dawson 23 yard FG

7-9 Dawson 44 yard FG

So this is how dynasties die - slowly, painfully, cruelly.

The BRONCOS were narrowly beaten by a poor BROWNS team as K SHAWN HALES missed 2 FGs in the fourth quarter.

But really, it should never have come to that. MAGNUM, MAXIMUS and PORTIS in their prime would have ripped through a team like these BROWNS.

Instead BRONCO was able to complete only 16 of 28 for 245 yards and 2 INTs.

Only MAXIMUS emerged with any credit with 6 catches for 96 yards.

The ORANGE CRUSH D was all over CLEVELAND, with our LBs finishing the day with 7 tackles for loss. Normally when you hold a team to 9 points you expect to win.

In the end, it was a very human end for three players who had once seemed so great as to transcend their own mortality.

One addendum - the SUPER BOWL champs this year were the 12-4 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES - featuring a certain AL WILSON as their starting MLB!

Let's go through this historic round of RETIREMENTS:

CLINTON PORTIS

Concludes his career as the NFL's career rushing leader with 20357 yards and 185 TDs. Could have extended his own record and played another year but we chose to feature his replacement HANK BOYD.

PORTIS finishes with 2 League MVP trophies, 6 offensive player of the year awards, and THIRTEEN PRO BOWLS.

Stratospheric numbers that may never be beaten.

Some incredible highlight games for him include hammering the PACKERS in the SUPER BOWL in YEAR FOUR and the FALCONS in YEAR SIX, killing the COLTS with 158 yards and a score in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME in YEAR TEN, his 145 yards and 2 scores against the TITANS in YEAR THIRTEEN.

Farewell, CLINTON! You'll always be welcome around these parts!

:excited:

MAGNUM JUNIOR

Finishes his career with 1214 catches for 17360 yards and 160 TDs and 11 PRO BOWLS.

Sure thing first ballot HALL OF FAMER.

Some of his more remarkable games include 6 catches for 202 yards and a score vs the JETS in YEAR THREE in his playoff DEBUT as a starter, 5 catches for 93 yards and 3 TDs in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME vs the BENGALS in YEAR FOUR, 8 catches for 144 yards vs the RAMS in the SUPER BOWL in YEAR FIVE, 2 scores and 118 yards vs the FALCONS in the SUPER BOWL in YEAR SIX, 9 catches for 221 yards and a score vs the COLTS in YEAR SEVEN, 4 catches for 175 yards and 2 TDs vs the SAINTS in the SUPER BOWL in YEAR EIGHT.

Most of his really great games came with PLUMMER at QB, and I think he missed JAKE THE SAINT in his later years with McNABB's brief but erratic tenure as QB and then SOCAL BRONCO's growing pains.

WORMUS MAXIMUS

Concludes his career with more modest receiving numbers, 725 catches for 10741 yards and 106 TDs, and 6 PBs.

Was still an incredible complement to MAGNUM and in his later years even outperformed him in crucial games.

Was also a devastating kick returner, using his speed and strength to awesome effect.

DRAFT:

1st – RB (14/4)

6th – LB (2.75/7)

Solid RB ranked 75 overall in the first.

In the 6th a gamble on a LB ranked only 56 overall but with speed 88.

We will shortly conclude this chapter of the BRONCOS!

Let us hope that in FREE AGENCY there will be players who give us HOPE for the future after such a dismal loss!

FREE AGENCY:

Alonzo Spriggs (90/7)

Terrence Spriggs (85/7)

Jacquez Schroeder (2.5/1)

We are not worthy!

Two INCREDIBLE veteran WRs in FA!

The SPRIGGS brothers!

ALONZO SPRIGGS is ranked 98, aged 31, speed 99.

TERRENCE SPRIGGS is ranked 98, aged 33, speed 98.

They may not have long left in the league, but what a bounty!

Even JACQUEZ SCHROEDER, 71 overall and ranked 29, will be a useful reserve WR!

Thus concludes the second chapter of the BRONCOS dynasty!

CHAPTER 3 will be all about a new generation of BRONCOS and will be entitled A NEW HOPE!

Hope you can join me for that!
