Hell yeah. Probably will snag 3-4. Need to get a list together and check out what is new for 2021.Beat the heat! Summer is here and so is the sale! Starting today, all Criterion Blu-rays and DVDs are 50% off at Barnes & Noble, both online and in stores, through August 1.
Odd that the channel just decided to put that on, so I will probably save my $ for something else. I think all of these were in that series I posted about in the movie thread.WKW set includes:
Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, Fallen Angels, Happy Together, 2046, Days of Being Wild and As Tears Go By
High and Low isB&N was sold out of the WKW when I went to place order. Ended up going with Memories of Murder, High and Low, and Seven Samurai.
After I ordered, I noticed Prime had the WKW set for 50% off too. Guess I’ll just give that money to Amazon.
Just about to post this - seems Amazon has followed suit. Picked up Stalker Bluray today for $20Don Quixote said:B&N was sold out of the WKW when I went to place order. Ended up going with Memories of Murder, High and Low, and Seven Samurai.

I bought Memories of Murder in the BN sale as well.I just needed to finally see that movie and it delivered.I like that Amazon has the 50% too. Might look more and get a couple others.
Yesterday I was driving by the BN, and the sale popped into mind, so I stopped in for a couple impulse buys. Got Memories of Murder, and the movie that started my love of foreign movies 20 years ago - Amores Perros.
Pretty sure I was hyping that one along with Mother and The Host when people were talking about Parasite. But when I was staring at the disc, I couldn't remember a ton about the movie, so I thought it would be a good re-watch.I bought Memories of Murder in the BN sale as well.I just needed to finally see that movie and it delivered.
I would say Mother, Memories of Murder and Parasite are the 3 must see Bong movies. When he gets into the sci-fi stuff, I don't find him nearly as effective or enjoyable.Pretty sure I was hyping that one along with Mother and The Host when people were talking about Parasite. Same here. I bought, but haven’t watched yet. Looking forward to it.I bought Memories of Murder in the BN sale as well.I just needed to finally see that movie and it delivered.

NO BUT NAOMI WATTS AND WHAT'S-HER-NAME WERE GETTING IT ON!Barnes and Noble 50% off sale going through November
I just got their first 4K release, Mulholland Drive. It looked awesome but the improved picture didn’t improve my understanding.

Here is the bad news that is really good newsNice, waiting on mine to ship.
You just need to discard the red herrings that are left over from when it started out as a TV show.Barnes and Noble 50% off sale going through November

Yeah, go in as blank as possible. Even with that foreknowledge it's still disorienting. It's like the WTH feeling of Donnie Darko taken to Lynchian levels.I will keep that in mind for after I watch it.
I've seen it a few times, but it's been awhile. But like you said, I'd like my rewatch to be as blank as possible.Yeah, go in as blank as possible. Even with that foreknowledge it's still disorienting. It's like the WTH feeling of Donnie Darko taken to Lynchian levels.
That is cool though I do like having the physical media (talk about old sounding lol). Something about having the disc and material all there in hand. Plus there is no chance it will be taken away from me. Remember when you buy digital movies, you don't actually own them and at any time they can be removed from your library.ITunes has a big list of Criterion titles for $5 each, if you don't mind having just the digital version.

It is a threat, sure. But I've bought digital for about a decade now and have never had anything disappear.Ilov80s said:That is cool though I do like having the physical media (talk about old sounding lol). A good example of this just happened this month with Playstation Germany when they announced:
As of 31 August 2022, due to our evolving licensing arrangements with content providers, you will no longer be able to view your previously purchased Studio Canal content and it will be removed from your video library.
We greatly appreciate your continued support.
Thank you

Written by Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliatt, who wrote Hitchcock's "The Lady Vanishes" and Reed's "Night Train to Munich" among others.I caught this one yesterday and really liked it.
A WWII movie of an Irish lassie who despises the English and falls in with a German spy ring.
I completely got swept up in the story and was quite taken with Debra Kerr who I loved in her next film Black Narcissus.
English films were at a disadvantage competing with Hollywood, so they typically are not of as high caliber, so I was pleasantly surprised. The English film industry would knock out films to turn a profit and then pool together their top, directors, producers, actors, screen writers, and technical folks in order to make at least one high-quality English film that would be able to compete with top Hollywood movies.
I don't think they did that with this film, but I really enjoyed it.
I keep buying and buying Do you have any recs for this sale?50% off at Barnes & Noble through November 28
I think I posted in the recently viewed movie thread, but the Double Indemnity 4K UHD was really good — loved the documentary, which is basically 3 hours of someone shooting the **** with Billy Wilder talking about his films.I keep buying and buying Do you have any recs for this sale?50% off at Barnes & Noble through November 28
