The Emmitt Smith Dumb Comment of the Week (1 Viewer)

"The Cowboys have matured into a mature football team."
Emmitt is my all time favorite player just over Tony Dorsett. However, I never want to see him on a dance show ever again. And I'd be pretty happy if he gave up the announcing job as well. That being said, if he's still doing this next year, I'd fully support a weekly Emmitt Dumb Comment of the Week thread.

All of you nimrods in this thread act as if you are some big shot Ivy league graduate criticizing the speech of others when all you really are is a general laborer whose life is so boring you get your rocks off on a fantasy football message board while hiding behind your mighty keyboard.

You probably could have split your comment into at least two sentences.

Simple sentences for simple minds.

Believe me, Emmit has come a long way from when I met him as he started his business career. He can now make some sense. He so wanted to be like Troy and Michael- but he still has a long way to go IMO.

:goodposting: These guys want everything in "subject, verb, direct object" form. Anything more complex is above their comprehension.

I can't listen to him anymore... I just can't. Emmitt, three minutes ago on ESPN:

"The pressure of going 19-0 got to them."

Of course, there was NO pressure trying to go 12-0... 13-0... 14-0... 15-0... 16-0... 17-0... 18-0.

at least I can speak proper English.I have no problem taking pot shots at a millionaire who was pushed through high school and college simply because he was a great athlete..he went back to Florida to get a BS degree in Public Relation..exactly what is Public Relation?! It obviously does not involve speaking to the masses...here is one PRICELESS video clip of Emmitt's greatest gaffes on ESPN...with Berman cursing! lol

You might be able to speak English, but it seems you can't read it very well. He got a degree in Public Recreation, not Public Relation. His main reason for going back to finish his degree, was because he promised his mother he would be the first person in his family to obtain a college degree. He made good on that promise. Good for him.

hey, what are you going to do? the guy excelled in football and not public speaking. I personally prefer former athletes as sports commentators as opposed to pencil necked geeks that never played the game and whose only qualifications are that they majored in journalism and wrote about sports for their college newspaper. that being said, i think there are a lot of former players who are more eloquant than Emmitt... unfortunately, Emmitt is a more recognizable face.

ESPN put more stock in Emmitt's TV recognizability and football experience and it backfired on them. I doubt Emmitt will be back next year

yeah, it's more fun to have idiots w/ sports experience than smart people who can actually break down the game.

what smart guy, non-former playerrs that can break down a game are you talking about? Greenburg, Kornhole and any of the other talking heads are great at providing entertainment and some insight, but the real meats and potatos of breaking down defenses and such are through the insights of the smarter former players like Jaws etc. Im pretty sure they don't teach how to breakdown a defense in journalism school.
