The FAA has authorized the use of hundreds of drones in U.S. (1 Viewer)

Hell, if you're a backyard nude sunbather, one could argue that Google Earth violates your privacy.

I wonder if they use these to try and scout out the marijuana farms and houses that are lit up from having hydro grow indoor farms going on?

Can someone tell me why they think this is a bad thing? Are you growing pot in your yard? Do you have a secret dog-fighting barn?

Do you have an "illegal" shed on your property? Did you get permits for those goal posts??...

one step closer to BIG BROTHER
when you have a drone you are never alone.
What's the difference between drones and satellites that have already been able to tell folks what can of soda you prefer to drink while sitting out in the backyard with your kids for how many years now? :shrug:I'm not for more Big Brother...but at least when it comes to border patrol and/or people using State/Federal land to grow illegal drugs, let the DoD and HSA have at it. In fact, pull all those troops back from Afghanistan/Pakistan and station them from Florida to California, all while engaging in a little "covert ops" South of the border (drone strikes blowing up drug labs/fields and drug kingpins vehicles/homes on a semi-regular basis), and I'm a happy camper. But if people are all of the sudden worried about Big Brother surveillance and your right to privacy on your land over the issue of drones? I'm afraid I've got some very bad news for you. And it isn't just the US government doing it either. Wanna guess at approximately how many nations have satellites circling the planet that can tell you you're a Dr. Pepper man (not a Coke or Pepsi drinker) at any given time? I'll say three...but then again, I'm probably just naive.

I actually own a Drone; while fairly beat in, it flies well, and is still very stable. It does get used with some frequency, however it is mostly reserved for utility duties, and I definitely do not rely on it for go-to use.

It's not just federal governments either you have state and local surveillance as well as retail surveillance.I know that no one gives two ##### about my day-to-day comings and goings but I for one am ####### tired of being watched all the GD time.

We are at the point of near constant surveillance already with the proliferation of cameras in public places and electronic techniques employed by many government agencies. I don't see how adding another tool really helps our privacy.

The drones are just a change in the order of magnitude. It's certainly a HUGE stretch on my part...but in 20 years will each American have a personal hovering drone following us everywhere we go? Step outside in the morning to fetch the paper and god forbid your bathrobe slips open and the JobberDrone1 catches my schvanz on camera. Boom. Ticket and court date.
